I had the salty caramel truffle. Handel's makes that flavor the way it's supposed to taste. Big line at 9p on a Sunday but the line moved incredibly quick. I can't say enough good things. I also stole a bite of my girls mint chocolate chip and it was pretty fantastic too.
This was my first time visiting San Diego and stopped to enjoy some of Handel’s Homemade Ice cream and it was so delicious! They are the one shop that gives samples as well. While enjoying the classic music my coffee chocolate chip ice cream fell and they were so kind to give me another free of charge! They are the best!!! Thank you???
BEST SERVICE PERIOD and best ice cream I’ve had in ages. Graham central was OUT OF THIS WORLD and same with horchata (cinnamony creamy goodness). The milk chocolate w/ marshmallow and peanuts was also a favorite; have never had ice cream that well infused with marshmallows.
I love Handels ice cream and I have been to various locations over the last few years. I was disappointed that this Pacific Beach location was not making their ice cream with all of the ingredients. We got three quarts of different flavors. The vanilla caramel brownie had no brownies in it and the vanilla Oreo was mostly vanilla. Very surprising and disappointing.
My husband enjoyed his second banana split of our vacation ?? but they didn't have any nut ice cream because they weren't properly frozen ??

Wow! Sweets are my favorite food group, specifically ice cream and let me tell you Handel's serves up some really good ice cream! So many varieties it is hard to choose just one. When in doubt get the 4 scoop sampler (perfect for sharing or not :) ). The employees are really nice, always smiling and helpful of you have any questions they know their stuff! Handel's has quality, amazing ice cream and treats. Great location, grab a sweet treat and walk it off around the fabulous local shops and the beach.
Handel's has a few locations throughout San Diego, but the one in Pacific Beach is relatively new. The storefront is conveniently located a block from the boardwalk/beach, but finding parking might be tough.Since there are over 40 flavor options to choose from, I decided to try a sampler of four different flavors. I chose banana cream pie, blueberry cobbler, graham central station, and pistachio. The ice cream was flavorful, smooth, and creamy. My favorite was the banana cream pie because I go bananas for anything banana! The consistency is a little on the thicker side, which means it won't melt too quickly when the warmer days arrive. The portions are also very generous. A "single scoop" is more like three scoops!Next time, I'll make sure to grab my ice cream and go for a stroll along the beach.
