Fantastic FRESH sushi. The miso tastes homemade, along with the gyozas. Everything here we ordered was a win.
I love the sushi at this place. Fresh, filling and flavorful! I always order here even though it can take an hour or more during busy weekends to get my take out. The only recommendation is if the estimated order time would be given before placing order since there's no immediate cancel button.
Gami Sushi has been my boyfriend and my favorite go-to for almost a year. We've been here countless times before and the food has always been great. Service's quality has been just okay until our visit today. We arrived at the restaurant just before 9pm and sat at the table right outside the door. Usually we sit inside but we decided to sit outside since it's almost closing time and the inside dining room looks already cleaned up. After we ordered our food, while waiting, I looked down on the ground and saw a big rat next to my feet. The couple who sat opposite from us saw it too and even pointed towards it and told me it was now under my chair. I was freaked out and my boyfriend went to tell the server to pack our food to-go, to which she seemed displeased. At first I didn't want to say anything, but seeing her reaction I told her that there was a rat next to our table. She came out to look for it and it was not there anymore. She told another server to look for it and he searched in the bushes and flowerbeds behind our table and couldn't find it. Then nothing was said from the staff. What rubbed me the wrong way was not the fact that there was a rat at our table, but it was the way that the staff handled the situation. They practically ignored us and my boyfriend even heard one of the staff said that they've never seen a rat before. We didn't receive any acknowledgment of what I saw. I understand that this is not in their control but their lack of response was off-putting and disappointing. We have been loyal customers to Gami for a long time, so today's experience has been incredibly disappointing. We still like their food but it's unlikely that we will come back again.
Ordered a salmon skin salad; Never received it. My husband got all his food, and I waited until he finished eating and then cancelled my order. I wish we had a more pleasant date night without the kids. I'm thoroughly disappointed. I tried to be patient waiting for my food. The waitress clearing my husband's dishes apologized and offered a 20% discount. We did not receive an apology from our waitress. The manager came by and apologized. He said by the time I cancelled the order, the salad was ready. But I was not told that when I went to the front to cancel. I only found out about my order being "ready" when he came by *after* I told the other waitress that he did not acknowledge that my food had not been served, and my husband had finished eating, not when I cancelled my order. btw - we never saw our waitress again after ordering. If she checked in with us, I would have had the opportunity to let her know that I did not receive my salad.There are many other sushi restaurants in the area where I consistently get good service, and excellent sushi. It is disappointing that I can't rely on this restaurant to be one of those good sushi restaurants. However, I tried it today hoping I would have a good experience.
Wow, order some sushi today thinking I was going to enjoy some good food. Damn was I so wrong, spend $80 on take out and the food taste like [email protected]!t. Really!! Everything waste watered down no favor no taste. Even the wasabi was watered Down not hot at all. I know they are under new management but really?? This is the last time I will order And will tell others not to taste their time. What a shame, was good before but the new management should be ashamed
Always have a great experience here. Mainly ordered to-go and Gami never disappoints me! Only dined here a few times and it was a pleasant experience. I appreciate consistency and over the past 2.5 years this place offered that. Fresh fish. I can't seem to order anything other then the Chirashi and an order of Uni ohh so good! Lemon roll, Tuna Mania roll and Fire roll. Sauce on the side. This place has us hooked!!!!
Generally, Gami offers a good selection of nicely-rolled sushi and other Japanese dinner fare with larger than average portions and very decent prices. Service has been good - excellent over the years we have been patronizing the shop, though recently I think the pandemic has hit their staff hard and quality has temporarily slipped a bit.
Their Sushi is excellent, high quality and always excellent. It’s great to receive such high quality and consistency every time.It’s packaged nicely and always ready for pick up. It means so much to have this quality and consistency when eating raw fish and rolls.
My go to is always the poke bowl for lunch! they even modify to my preferences without any complaints. my only wish is that they reinstated their lunch time menu/specials that was available pre covid! otherwise, i cant say anything bad about this place. the fish is always fresh and delicious and the service is fast! always my go to for sushi in carmel valley!
Gami has been our go to sushi place for years!! Always a good atmosphere, incredibly fresh and tasty fish, and welcoming helpful staff!! I know there's hundreds of sushi places in the area, but I feel spoiled at Gami and won't try anywhere else!!
