Went on a whim going here. Heard great things. I did an over the phone order (for pick up).Looked at the menu online and saw our favorite. Honey walnut shrimp & General Tso chicken. I also wish they would have mentioned before “checking out” if we would like rice with our meals. Basically the items were Ala Carte.Came home (only a 10 min drive) and our chicken was dry; the shrimp were dry (not really saucy); the noodles we got were very sticky (not the Lo Mein I’m used too). The duck sauce for the egg rolls was super vinegary. It’s freshly made; but bitter. The dumplings and soy sauce were awesome though!I’ll try it again; but maybe I’ll try the dine in (which reading the other reviews may bring mixed emotions about that).

Finally! Finally, we made it on our 4th try. Be ready to wait at least an hour if you come after 6PM. Super cute restaurant, super nice and welcoming people. We had TSO’s chicken and Dan Dan noodles and both were amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant as long as you are up for waiting!P.S. don’t forget to add rice with any of the chicken, shrimp, or meat items.

The food is fantastic, the table next to the door is very cold though. The wait times are crazy but Triple Crown is right down the street, go have a beer and some darts!

Fortune Son is a North Park neighborhood favorite for a sit-down meal. Their food is more American Chinese Take-out, so do not expect an overall authentic Chinese meal. But, they do the flavors exceptionally well, especially when it comes to spicing. It is the right about of spice to give you a kick but doesn't overpower the other flavors of the dishes. My personal favorite dishes are the wontons, dumplings, and the Green Beans! Now, the decor. WOW WOW WOW. I absolutely LOVE the inside of this restaurant. It is just so beautifully decorated with so many details. I highly highly recommend to dine-in. Plus you get the good Polite Provisions drinks! The fun tip here is if the line at Polite Provisions next door is really busy. Put your name in at FS, and they serve the same drink menu! But on weekend both have pretty long waits anyway. So, be prepared to wait a little since neither take reservations. Finally, anything Consortium Holdings does, they do well. So, if you end up liking Fortunate Son, check out all the other Restaurants and Bars they have.

Came around 5:30 and was quoted for a 45 minute wait for 2. We got seated an hour later. But overheard that at 6:30, the wait for 2 people increased to 2 hours and 30-45 minutes. The decor is incredible, it absolutely transports you somewhere else. It's a very small, intimate space, I believe it seats less than 40 people indoors. We got the dumplings, honey walnut shrimp, Dan Dan noodles, and fried rice. We started with the dumplings, which were so delicious, hands down the best thing we had and one of the best dumplings I've ever had. The honey walnut shrimp was so yummy. It was pretty sweet and candied, but the crunch was great. The biggest let downs were the fried rice and Dan Dan noodles. The Dan Dan noodles strongly tasted like hoisin sauce and was very disappointing. Unfortunately the fried rice was worse and just plain sad. It was the wrong type of rice, the texture was bad, part of the rice was uncooked, the flavor was bleh. Go for the dumplings and atmosphere, don't ever get the Dan Dan noodles or fried rice.

I recently grabbed dinner here and was happy I did. The food was great and decently priced. The orange chicken and shrimp friend rice were tasty. The venue has an awesome atmosphere with good tunes and offers good family style dining. Great place to go with friends or on a date. Great music and they even have a pickup window. If your in the neighborhood and want Chinese food this is a great place to visit.

The coolest atmosphere of any restaurant in the neighborhood, and with maybe my favorite food on all of Adams Ave. Fortunate Sun offers your favorite Chinese American dishes… but just better than you remember. The walnut shrimp was definitely a standout, but we devoured everything that arrived at the table. Worth the wait!

I ordered Door Dash delivery.Total Price: $30.97 w/o delivery fee or tip$7.99-egg rolls$6.99-fried rice$15.99-walnut shrimp*I was bummed that the Door Dash menu was limited and didn't offer Egg Foo Young, which is what I was hoping to try. I went with 2 of their top 3 items on the menu. Egg rolls were not on their top list.It doesn't mean much, but I loved the packaging of the food. Everything looked appetizing and put together well. I even loved their luxurious napkins. Again, I know this may not seem important, but it does when you pay that much for your food! All of the food was really good and it definitely wasn't your typical greasy mix Chinese food. Everything tasted fresh and the size of the shrimp in the walnut shrimp were huge! See pics! The portion sizes were nice, too. I'd like to check out this place again and dine in.*Tip: rice does not comes with the $15 entree, so I deducted a star. That's pretty expensive w/o white rice to go with it. :-(

The place was super cute on the inside. But cuteness does not make up for the horrible wait. We were quoted an hour wait when we arrived at 7:20pm...only to be sat at 9:30pm. They don't have a great system to update you on timed. Every time we kept asking for an update on how much longer they could never give us a time estimate. After about an hour and a half we decided to just stick it out since we had committed so much time to waiting already. The food was, was ready super quick. The menu is super limited they don't have too much on there, one page menu. I would definitely come back but maybe to do some carry out or go next door to have drinks while we wait.
