Great experience every time. We go here almost weekly and they have things the other filipis don't, including potato skins that are extra hearty and prime rib. My favorite is the shrimp filipis with added fettuccine sauce. You won't leave hungry, we always leave with an extra meal just from our leftovers which makes this experience a great value. Their pizza is unique, not thin crust but very cheesey. We like it with extra sauce to balance all that cheese and again, it's hearty and tasty. Not new York style, not Chicago style, it's own style

Ordered a meat lover's pizza. Get to the location and that's not on the ticket. Goes and inquires about pizza. It has mushrooms, sausage, and pepperoni. That's what I ordered on my last trip there a couple of weeks ago. They had already taken payment. I'm not in the business of making complaints and getting food remade there at time of complaint. "Mishaps" may take place. Decided I would leave a review instead and maybe there will be better service for future customers. Also as you see in the pics there was cheese missing from the side, how did that happen? Just disappointed overall. Will have to attend their other locations in the future should I choose to indulge.
My sister and I went to Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Scripps Ranch and had a great time!!! Our servers name was Dani and she did it all. She took our order, brought out our Pizza, salad and drinks. She refilled our cups readily. She even engaged & laughed with us. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. A memorable evening. Thank you Dani. We will go back.
Great pizza....love the sauce. The crust is thick, chewy & has great flavor. I think it must be the beer in it ;)We ask for ours to be slightly under-cooked. Sometimes, the pizza oven is really extra hot and tends to turn the cheese brown on top and the crust pretty dark on the bottom.
Amazing atmosphere. Food was delicious and super big portions. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
Excellent service and staff. We only came here for tiramisu and fries (but ended up getting onion rings instead) as that was our first date meal with my wife :) onion rings were fresh, tiramisu was tasty and its portion was big. We opted to sit outside since the inside was very dark (Google the meaning of Grotto).
In Dec we went to the Poway location and LOVED it! The pizza was phenomenal and our server Jake was top notch! I would give the Poway location 5 stars! Tonight we ordered carry-out from the Scripps location. We were very disappointed. The crust was super thick and hard to chew...I had a hard time cutting it with a knife. We ordered The Works pizza but the topping were mainly cheese and onions. No black olives or peppers. We also asked if they had cheesy bread, they said yes but just gave us a loaf of regular bread.
Really not enjoyable pizza. Hard like an English muffin. Cheese tastes off. Just not good. Sorry.
Escondido Filippi's is the best one in SD. The pizza was dry. Not enough sauce. Waiter was awesome.
The service here is amazing. We got the pizza because we were trying to find a new pizza place to try. The pizza was meh at best (in our opinion, but there might have been something up with the kitchen that night). However, from reading the reviews we should have gotten the prime rib or the pasta, as everyone raves about them. I would like to go back to try that as most reviews state the prime rib is better than most steakhouses.
