Went on Mother’s Day for the first time. Decided to go right when they opened in anticipation for crowds. Very few people when we arrived so was thinking we would be able to get our food pretty quickly. Got our table immediately and ordered garlic bread. Our lovely waitress had it out to us within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it was 30-40 minutes before we got our meal. There weren’t that many people there yet but only one waiter/waitress on each side and they were doing their best. Food was excellent but they definitely needed much more help on such a busy day.
Unfortunately, I went on a busy night. It took too much time for the hostess to seat family's and take and receive other orders that a few got impatient and left. I was hungry and I was craving for their spaghetti with meat sauce and buttered garlic bread. Before that I tried their soup of the day a tasty but salty tortilla soup...lukewarm to tangy warmed enough. Finally, I'd plenty of leftovers to bring back and their buttered down garlic bread that I'd placed face down onto my left over spaghetti tasted more heavenly an hour later...as a bedtime snack.
The food is really good. The place is quite large. We reseved the patio that was a single large table, isolated from the rest, but the waiters never forgot us. We ordered a bottle of wine, some more drinks and got totally drunk. We had such a blast with fam and the waiters also enjoyed our fun. We'll def go back!!! Don't worry, we had a dedicate driver back to the hotel.
I've always loved Filippis in old town for it's old world appeal ...but this one in Kearney Mesa has really stepped up and Beautified the interior now. The wait is not as long old town if your limited in time.Nice look. Still excellent service. Delicious food. Still the tastiest pizza around. Keeping your customers happy is still top notch.
It was very busy with pizza takeout today when we arrived. It was a wait for service, but our waitress was very good and several other people helped with drinks and bread. Food was very good (pasta with meat sauce). We were not in a hurry and everything worked out great.
I don't understand why they put the toppings on the bottom and the cheese on top. If it's a gimmick, it's a bad one. The toppings don't cook properly and the whole thing falls apart when you try and pick it up. NOBODY else in the world does pizza this way to my knowledge, and for good reason. Apart from that, the toppings are fresh and the service is good. Just put the cheese in the right place and you would have a good thing going.
Super busy pizzeria and short staff. Probably due to COVID. We were waiting by the host desk for a good 10 minutes and staff would running around, serving people like a chicken with a its head cut off lol but eventually the host showed up and we were seated. A gentleman which I guess he was the owner came to our table and apologized for our long wait which was very polite of him. The food was delicious and our waiter was super cool. I took one star off because during the 10-15 minutes wait I witnessed couple of servants serve the food while they had their thumbs stuck in the dish and the food which was very gross. I would pay more attention to sanitation and how the food is being served especially during this sensitive time. All and all I highly recommend try their food. It's delicious.
The Filippi's restaurants have the best pizza hands down. They put the toppings under the cheese so they stay moist and don't dry out or burn like at every other pizza shop I've ever ordered from. We got the Meat Lovers large pizza. It comes with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, and Canadian bacon. It was a carnivore's dream. The outer crust was crispy and the slices were foldable, like New York pizza. There is a perfect balance of sauce and cheese. This is my go to place when I'm craving excellent pizza.
Ordered food here on Uber Eats as the restaurant accepts orders until 8:30pm. They must have not made our order and closed for the night because I waited 1.5 hrs just for my order to be canceled. Terrible experience.Updating my review from 1 star to 5! I appreciate the business’s respond. Also, I tried them out last night and I loved the food! Highly recommend the lasagna with pink sauce.
