Star Donuts is the only traditional donut shop I’ve found in the Mission Hills/Hillcrest area. In the land of high-rent it is a treasure that needs to be supported. One note, Star: your cake donuts are either under cooked or the oil isn’t hot enough to get a slightly crisp surface that would bring you to 5 stars.

It is overpriced!A cinnamon roll was $3.50 then bc it has crumbs that was another .25 and then if you try and use a debit card they charge .75So 1 cinnamon roll, if I bought it with a card was going to be $4.50!!!???I took out all my change and paid the $3.75.I couldn't disappoint my son, but I would have left otherwise.

Great nayborhood ma/pa place. Consistent with quality and price of donuts and smoothies. 8 years strong a customer here.... its like Cheers- the family remembers ur face and donut preference!!

Love the donuts. The jelly is so good and the apple fritter. The croissants are good. A bit pricey for donuts compared to other spots, but they are good.

Best donuts I've ever had! They melt into your mouth

What's not to love. Best donuts in San Diego.

Best donuts on the planet. Only things is that the donuts are so good they seem to be out when ever I go. It's a conspiracy. The people that work there are very nice and helpful especially if you ask for recommendations. So if you want donuts this is the spot if you get there at the right time.

Excellent donuts and service.Great selection of smoothie flavors.Ham & cheese croissant was delicious ?

Life is worth sweets. Although eating a donut after a vigorous workout is counterproductive, Donut Star is worth it. Hey, I'll do an extra mile tomorrow.I love traditional donuts that are soft and moist in the inside and sweet to cure a one time craving. Donut Star even has fancy-fied donuts for those who need to have flair. My favorite is the original buttermilk, glaze twist and cinnamon roll. Yes, my donut taste is basic. But there is no oily residue or pastry sticking to the roof. These are my reasons I would recommend Donut Star:1. Inexpensive2. Donuts are fresh from am to late evening3. Local business that serves with a neighborly spiritMove over Oreo, ice cold milk now has a new BFF.

Hands down the best donuts in town! Not only are these donuts a great price but they have a lot of unique donut flavors that the more “bougie” shops have. Definitely try the maple bacon bar, the apple fritter, and the ube donut! Also do not pass up a freshly made smoothie! I have tried the watermelon, and the orange dreamsiscle, and they were both some of the best smoothies I have had! Better than Jamba Juice and half the cost.
