Amazing place! Very impressive vegan restaurant that delivers on all fronts. I brought my family here (who are carnivores) and they loved it too!We got bread (a definite must), a salad, pizza, lasagna, and a cheesecake. The bread and crust of the pizza was my favorite part. They're homemade vegan cheeses were also awesome, pretty mellow in flavor but spot on on the texture. The service was also top notch. If you're vegan you should definitely come here. If you're not, you should also come just to be impressed with what can be done without your standard meats and cheeses.

Simply the best restaurant in San Diego

This genuinely has got to be one of the best meals I’ve had in my life! My boyfriend and I shared the fried mushrooms, ravioli, a mushroom pizza with garlic butter, and sticky toffee pudding. All of them were so amazing. The fried mushrooms tasted like fried chicken, they were so flavourful and crunchy. The ravioli made both our jaws drop - we couldn’t believe how spot on the vegan cheese was in texture and flavour to ricotta! The pizza was also amazing. it’s the first we’ve had that really nailed the vegan cheese. Dough was so yummy. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding… OMG, I was skeptical when I read dates in the ingredient list but when I had it it was sooo amazing.I will remember this meal for a long time!!

Absolutely delicious ? Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere and comfortable. Try it all! Everything is so good.

Beautiful atmosphere on the front patio. Pretty romantic and quaint. The hostess was incredibly friendly and kind that sat us. Our server was a bit less enthusiastic but didn’t ruin the night at all.Pretty underwhelming gluten free options. $25 for a small plate of gnocchi was pretty steep. Even though it was very good. I was not thrilled that the reason there’s no more gf pizza is because it “didn’t sell well” as the server informed us.Outside of this, the food was fantastic along with the atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their meals!

I was shockingly happy with this restaurant I am not a big vegan type of person but but this place was really really good really good they made all kinds of stuff in house so you knew it was all plant based even though you couldn't tell. I got the pizza called the 4 horsemen had mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmesan. I also got bread with a garlic butter sauce and I could not tell that it was not real butter. It tasted like a real garlic butter sauce. If you're vegan this is definitely a place that you would want to try or vegetarian or if you just want to try a vegan restaurant this is the one you need to try.

Beautiful atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating. The mac-n-cheez I ordered tasted heavily of onion powder, and my top-notch server deftly offered to replace it with the spinach lasagna. Lasagna was tasty, but I would’ve loved actual spinach (not just spinach-flavored pasta) and a more tomato-y sauce. One weird thing is that as soon as I sat down (5pm on a Thursday, only two other customers in the whole place), the hostess informed me there was a two-hour limit, which was a bit off-putting. Not sure what gave her the impression I was there for the evening, but it wasn’t the warm welcome one hopes for when dining solo. Love that it’s vegan and I’m glad I checked it off my list, but I’m not eager to return.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and presentation here. To be honest, I wasn’t looking too forward to my Sunday lunch date at Donna Jean, mainly because I’m not vegan and hadn’t had great experience in the past at other vegan restaurants. However this lunch exceeded everything. The restaurant has a very cute front patio, filled with lots of foliage, flowers, and herbs. We had to wait about 15 minutes for an outdoor table. Our server was very friendly and was knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions. Service was great, but at a very relaxed pace (from hostess to food runners to bussers). It wasn’t a problem at all as it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, but something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a quick meal or short on time. We ordered The Widow Pizza, which was quite unique. It has black garlic, smoked date purée, ricotta, red onions, Calabrian chili and kale. The pizza crust was quite delicious and the combo of ingredients worked well together. The only thing I didn’t really care for was the vegan ricotta as it had a different taste that I just didn’t like. But the pizza was delicious overall. We also ordered the Hot Shrooms, which was a delicious take on hot wings, but with Oyster mushrooms. Their house made Nashville style hot sauce is amazingly good with a nice kick! The dish came with a large slice of house made bread, which I didn’t really care for and wasn’t sure why it was part of the dish. There was something with the bread’s dense consistency that I didn’t enjoy. We washed down our food with a couple pints of IPA. If you prefer wine, bubbly or mimosas, they have that available too. I have to say that my hesitance at the beginning was won over by the wonderful lunch I had at Donna Jean and I look forward to going back again!

The food was really nice, very fresh pizzas. However, the service was very slow. Spent around 2.5 hours for and at the restaurant. Also, I have ordered pizzas from here as well before, but pizzas in the restaurant taste much much better than home delivered ones.

This is an awesome spot for vegan food. I’m not strictly vegan, but my significant other prefers to eat mainly vegan, and I’ve got a pretty open mind/palate. I have to say as far as vegan restaurants go (and I’ve tried quite a few) this place is at the top of my list. Most items (including their vegan cheese) are made in house, and you can definitely tell. The vegan pizza was the best I’ve had, and the fried “chicken” (mushrooms) was insane. They worked us in on a busy weekend night with no reservation, to boot. Will definitely be back, as this place is just down the street from me. Highly recommend!
