Japanese Japanese Curry
(858) 900-3020

FOOD & DRINKSThe menu was quite interesting. You can clearly see that they added a few other items compared to their Japanese counterparts. I even believe the curry didn’t taste quite the same but I wouldn’t bet on it. It has been a while since I was able to taste the original. The curry was still yummy though.SERVICEIt was quite busy but service was friendly.ATMOSPHEREEven in Japan this is more of a fast food restaurant. Nothing really positive to say about the flair other than that the table was clean.RATINGYou come here to grab some nice Japanese curry and fill your stomach. The flavor is very similar to some of the very good instant block currys from Japanese brands.

Absolutely Amazing!!! Just like CoCo Ichibanya in Japan. Would HIGHLY recommend if you enjoy Japanese curry or if you would like to try it.

CoCo serves Japanese style foods. I really liked the service here and the food was exceptionally good. I had chicken and curry. You can select how spicy you want your curry and I got #5. Yes it was spicy, but was just what I was wanting. You can choose to have mild curry as well. My only wish is that the portions were larger.I went for lunch and there was plenty of parking. Later at dinner time I imagine it is more challenging to find parking as the lot isn't that large.

I wanted to try all the different kinds of proteins but my stomach capacity is not big enough. Good flavor and can choose any spice level or add on to your curry. You can even reduce the rice amount.

You can never go wrong with Coco Ichibanya and I am so happy to see one opened up for San Diego! So hearty! Level 2 was already spicy for me

Really good. Got level 5 chicken cutlet curry (about $19), cheesy nan ($3), and garlic nan ($2). Just as good as I remember in Japan.Took less than 10 minutes for the order to come out. The staff member who took my order was really great.

I've had Coco's curry in Japan and Hawaii. This wasn't anything close to what Hawaii offered. I wanted to go ramen but the place I wanted to go was closed. I saw Coco's and decided to see if it was anything like the other establishment. The place is new and nice. Not like the Hawaii's nor Japan's counter top setting. The menu was americanized, I asked for the shabu shabu beef and they didn't kno cause it was labeled thin sliced beef(I already knew what I wanted to order before looking). As soon as i ordered, the Nan bread came out under 3mins. Then around 5mins the curry came. Small played and I usually don't order spicy so I took the 2x spice. I dont know if it was the spice or what, there wasn't really any flavor to the curry. Very bland curry. Felt like they just thew the beef and spinach in the curry and let it cook and sit.I was expecting alot but I think I made better curry st home. It's a disappointment to me and I don't think I'll go back cause it wasn't worth it if it tasted like that for me. I havent found any other curry spots here and Coco's in California is a rarity. By all means, go try it yourself. This is my honest opinion.

Maybe I'm not a huge fan of Japanese curry, but was unimpressed with the food for the hour wait. Others seem to like it a lot though. I shrug.

Haven't been to Coco's in 3 years, and that was on my first trip to Japan. Imagine my excitement when my friend told me there's one being built on San Diego. IMAGINE my excitement when I found there's over 5 locations!!!! Needed to touch this place to be brought back to why this place has a soft spot for my taste buds.

Service here was great, they even have the table buzzer like they do in Japan, and I'm definitely a believer that should become a standard here in America. Aside from that, I wish the sauce was a little closer to what they serve in Japan, over there the sauce seems a bit thicker and has small chunks of meat. This location in particular seems to be a little stingy with sauce, I've been eating Coco Curry for the past 14 years and this location is the only one I've ever dined at where I've ran out of sauce and had to eat my rice dry.
