We arrived an hour early for our booking and we were accommodated with no proble at all. We weren't ready to eat and we weren't rushed at all to order so we had a nice few relaxing beers. Wait staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The place was clearly very busy but we weren't rushed and the staff all remained calm and pleasant. The view from the open-air rooftop is outstanding across the beach and the sea. It doesn't get any better than this! Live guitarist/singer was excellent. The food was excellent and not over-priced given the stunning location. Would definitely recommend.
I have yet to enjoy a meal at the Cannonball where you’re actually comfortable. When they seat you in the reception area with almost no table tops bring out half the entrees because they’re waiting on the sushi??? Bring out the salad and the entree at the same time? The sushi is good. The entrees are inconsistent. Sometimes overcooked and sometimes under seasoned. Obviously not a well run kitchen. We live the view, but $700 dinners for 8 Adults is absurd when you’re eating with your late in your lap. Never again. 12 years and every year it gets worst.
This was one of our favorite dining experiences. Great sushi and fantastic ocean front views. The live music was a nice touch. I’d suggest a reservation for a nice view and avoid the wait for a table.
Great sushi and great views!
every item on the menu is great and you always get excellent service
Situated right by the beach, cannonball offers amazing sunset views and delicious food. Recommend making a reservation in advance. They have a huge space and it was pretty packed on a Saturday evening. We had made a reservation and so we were seated immediately. We had their signature lobster roll and hot sake. The sushi quantity was sufficient for two. The price is based on the market rate at the time. It was around $45 that day but we were so glad we made the choice. Ingredients but they all came together really well to give a great flavor with every bit. Unfortunately, we were still too full from the late lunch we had. So we could not order more. Looking forward to visiting next time to try more stuff.
I say surprising because i think most people come for the view, which is great. You are overlooking the ocean; outside dining; ocean breeze. We tried the tuna roll and the Baja sashimi, both were truly excellent.
We visit this place every time we come out to Mission Beach and it never disappoints! The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is always fresh and delicious. The view, the vibes are immaculate. ? 10 out of 10!I recommend the spicy edemame to start then a lobster roll with your favorite entree. The ceviche is great and the fish tacos!
Awesome experience here. The view is beautiful. Reservations made it simple for our party of 6. Sushi was fantastic and the sushi burrito was so good. Appetizers were good too, we loved the crab spinach dip.
Unfortunately, the only star is for the food and the views of the ocean. When we arrived, a front staff gave our table away to people at the bar in which a different staff had already told us we would get that table. They apologized. We waited longer for another table and saw that the group that came after us ended up getting sat before we did. We found out the same person that gave our original table away gave this new table away by mistake to that group thinking it was us. She then apologized to us AGAIN and sat us in the very far corner of the restaurant, the forgotten side as we heard one staff call it. Once sat, we had to ask a runner to get us refills. We were trying to get the server's attention for 20mins. The tables next to us were even helping trying to get the server to us. Finally we get refills and again we're forgotten about. Only part of the refills came out and by the time the server came back we were ready to go without the rest of the drinks. Very unfortunate experience. With how expensive the food is there we would expect supperb service from beginning to end.
