Had our last breakfast here as it was so highly recommended, after a 20 minute wait it was barely average, my scrambled had shell in it and my stomach let me know it wasn't the best. I am not sure what the fuss is about. It is a limited menu with no pork bacon. Maybe it was an off day !

Every piece of this restaurant was appealing. From the overall atmosphere, to the customer service, to the food, I was impressed from the moment I got there. Couldn't decide, so ordered both the peanut butter banana French toast and the dirty potatoes. Both meals were great and huge servings for a good price, I ended up taking half of each home to enjoy later. Parking was easy when we went and we were immediately greeted, seated, and quickly served. Will definitely be returning.

First morning breakfast for the stay in San Diego at The Cafe 222 well the outside on the curb tables reminded me of my time in Italy. The coffee was very nice. Now the waffle was a nice waffle the scrambled eggs was okThe sausage was no good cheap bland and probably frozen microwaved out of a box. The syrup was cheap not real maple syrup I’m accustomed to back in the Midwest. But the view and relaxing feel was amazing to sit there and just forget about all the hustle and bustle back home. That alone is worth a star on the score. The people are kind and very friendly but that should be a given so I will probably revisit this cute little place.

Excellent breakfast spot. A small privately owned restaurant that has a great feel and delicious, freshly cooked good.I visited to breakfast and enjoyed it very much.

I ate here during my first trip to San Diego with my then 5 year old and we enjoyed it. Now 9 years later in back on a solo trip and have eaten Cafe 222 three times! The food is amazing and the staff is as well. You won't regret a breakfast or lunch at the Cafe. Eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito, Mexican scramble are all delicious!

This spot is in an area with a quiet neighborhood feel. Service was great and sitting outside was fairly peaceful considering the tables were right on a street. The menu had a lot of great sounding items but since 90% if the time I get a Mexican-themed breakfast, I opted for the tamale & eggs. It was amazing - maybe the best breakfast dish I ever had. Sometimes tamales have way too much masa and too little filling but this was the perfect balance. Delicious and the accompanying eggs, toast and refried beans were all great too!

Best breakfast in San Diego. Friendly staff , delicious menu, fun environment.

Best breakfast downtown. Super friendly and considerate service. Portions are large enough to split. Eggs over medium were perfectly executed with whites cooked through and yolks slightly runny and golden. The pancakes were large and chewy and delicious enough that you don't really need syrup. Loved that they had turkey bacon, which has a smoother smokey flavor than pork based bacon.

Friendly atmosphere, great experience.

It has positive reviews and maybe it’s a big deal, but we were anything but impressed! So not sure why all the good reviews! I am not sure what is with them not having bacon, only Turkey bacon. But they have ham and sausage links etc. no bacon though. The waffle was something exactly like from a continental breakfast at a hotel with cold syrup like it’s passed from customer to customer. Totally nothing i couldn’t have done myself!
