It's not that easy to find good BBQ in California when you are from Texas. Bulls Smoking BBQ is pretty dang close to home. Friendly staff, fast service, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, great selections, good portions. All they need is sweet tea!

Saw the notice on the wall for the license transfer to new ownership. So we thought we'd give this place another try. Unfortunately the taste, quality and prices still aren't up to par with other San Diego County BBQ restaurants like Coops and Abbey's. The 16oz of brisket was tasty, lean, but a little on the dry side despite some au jus added to the cup in which it was served. The brisket sandwich was too dry. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but not outstanding. The cornbread was good. Hopefully the new owners will make some changes. The location, theme, and usage of space are all great. So if the food is improved and prices are made more reasonable, this place has the potential to be a major success.

Fantastic smoked beef ribs! I just moved to San Diego from near Chicago, so I know what genuine smoked beef ribs should taste like. This is it. The ribs are juicy, tender, not over-salted, and a good size. A set of 3 was enough for my wife and I. The fries are excellent too. There are three sauces, regular, sweet, hot. The regular is very good, but the sweet and hot sauces were absolutely outstanding on their own and can be mixed to get a really nice mixture.Staff were super friendly and helpful.Don't go to other places where they use a shortcut: they boil the ribs and then put them under the broiler smothered in BBQ sauce. Beef ribs are big so a smoker can only take a certain number of them. Some places that are highly touted in San Diego do the shortcut to serve high volumes but the result is awful. Mentioning no names here but if you really want to experience first class ribs, go to a place that actually smokes the meat.Bull's has a nice outdoor patio as well as indoors so you can eat here all year round if you're worried about COVID.

Not only is the food bad a$$! They are super nice, especially the tall guy withthe white beard. Made me feel at home, and not stupid when i asked whatsthe best. Great guy to have on your front line! 5 stars all day, any day.

Although this is a BBQ restaurant, the gumbo is FIRE (translation delicious). The pull pork is good also. The brisket was dry (likely over cooked). The macaroni and cheese was interesting, it had like cheese nips or crackers on top. Just remove that and its decent. The cornbread was a hit too! Overall, we were satisfied and the customer service was awesome.

Very fun place that is totally dog friendly and the BBQ is very tasty. Parking can be a little challenging, but not terrible. Dogs will love the bones. People will enjoy happy hour beers for 5 bucks. Check out the pulled pork fries. They are very tasty.

I love this BBQ joint. Blows Phil's BBQ out of the water by a long shot. Good prices & food is amazing, every single time. I believe this is a family owned & operated restaurant. Highly recommend the pulled pork fries, smoked salmon Caesar salad. I go just about once a week with my girlfriend & the staff never makes me feel weird for showing up as often as I do. Good food, good prices, good people.

This was my 2nd time going to this particular BBQ restaurant. It is sooooo good!! The meats are cooked to perfection. It's tender and juicy. The only complaint I had with this place is they put cheese on pulled pork fries. Now, don't get it twisted.... it's still delicious but I would've preferred no cheese. If you're in the area and you're looking for great BBQ, look no further than Bill's Smokin' BBQ!

We enjoyed dining on the outdoor patio with our dog. The atmosphere is really relaxed and the food is good. They bring you different bottles of BBQ sauce to add to the meat (I had the pulled pork sandwich). The sides were really great as well. I'd definitely get the hush puppies and corn bread again.

The pork ribs were good. Meat just fell off the bone and had a nice flavor. We also ordered the brisket. I was not a fan. They cut the brisket into small bite size portions, which dried it out. The flavor was lacking and texture wasn’t what I was expecting. I honestly prefer a long cut with a nice peppery charred crust on the top of the brisket piece. I’m gonna pass on their brisket next time we decide to venture back. The Mac n cheese was good. The coleslaw was delicious and the corn bread was tasty.Overall, I did enjoy the meal, but I would only encourage you to go if you’re in the mood and don’t want to deal with a busy atmosphere like Phil’s. If you wanna quick option, this is the spot.
