Blink and you’ll miss it. This yummy hidden treasure is a few steps down from the sidewalk right on Prospect Street in La Jolla. We had a little of EVERYTHING….chicken, ribs, chopped brisket, sweet potato w/ melted brown sugar, broccoli and the kind of double baked mac-n-cheese you could only dream about. Jeff, the owner, was super cool and engaging. Will definitely repeat! #bbq #brisket #ribs #homestyle #macncheese
Tender meat, great portions, fabulous outdoor seating! Great for a family dinner or dinner wish friends on a warm summer night. Don’t pass it up if you’re in the area!
The chef is super great according to our three year old. We had the chopped brisket, salmon, and some sides. All delicious. Loved the corn bread!
This place made me feel like I was at home. Moms cooking the good stuff in the kitchen I just want to graze like a Wisconsin Cow. The staff was better then hooking a red snapper mid white cap. 10/10 would come back again
We got delicious takeout from Bubba's. The man at the counter was great. Super friendly, helped us select the perfect lunch. The brisket and pulled pork were both very good, tender, mild hint of smoke. Nice sized sandwiches on tender griddled buns. The red potato salad was excellent, creamy with lots of dill. Cole slaw was sweet and tasty. Cute dining area if you choose to eat in. Parking can be a challenge in La Jolla, but there is a ramp.just around the corner. Would definitely eat here again
Delicious and a common local favorite. I'm from La Jolla and we LOVE Bubba's BBQ. It is made fresh everyday. The owners are very kind and staff is accommodating. I go here whenever I am in the downtown area
Fast casual dining - excellent tasting pulled pork! We got our food so quickly and the staff was very friendly. Their bathroom is so clean and cutely decorated! I didn't love the mac & cheese but my partner liked it. Corn bread was nice and sweet. Would recommend pulled pork sandwich and platter, with their sweet bbq sauce! This restaurant was a gem and I hope you visit!
We live in San Diego and are fortunate to have a lot of options for good food. I am not in the habit of reviewing restaurants unless they stand out in some way. We have been to this spot several times now and have been consistently impressed. I am a vegetarian and initially went there so my mom could have brisket. She loved the barbeque but this last time we went, she had salmon. She is quite picky about her meat and fish. However, she raved about everything that she has had there. I also really liked the veggie burger and sweet potato fries. You wouldn't necessarily think that salmon and vegetarian options would be great and worth coming back for at a barbeque place, but they are. This is a great place for a quality meal at a reasonable price while in La Jolla. You will not be disappointed.
Excellent BBQ nice to be able to choose traditional BBQ sauce or vinegar based. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come again
Hard to believe there is a smokehouse BBQ in the middle of La Jolla Village under a bank building. But there it is, making really good BBQ. My first meal in La Jolla and it was a winner! Disappointed that they were sold out of hush puppies, but the little corn muffin was a satisfying replacement. The Pork baby ribs were so tender, the meat just fell off the bone just by looking at them. Sooo good! Indoor and outdoor seating. Best deal in La Jolla, they sell their corn muffins for 75cents each. Bought extra to snack on the next morning since my hotel did not offer breakfast.
