Yikes! This is more of a public warning. A server at this establishment insisted on holding onto my credit card because we wanted to order 3 sandwiches and 3 waters. Her excuse was that there has been a problem with dash and dine. I told her I was not comfortable with her holding onto my card for this reason. She refused service if we did not comply. I am a diabetic and needed to eat. I offered to pay for the food in advance. She refused. We have been enjoying Bub’s for years now and thought this must be a new policy. My son had to give her his card just so we could order food. Not alcohol. Just food. Between this sketchy new policy and the incredibly rude security guard at the entrance, I left a bad review. I then updated my review when the owner nor the manager would respond to my complaint. Only then did the manager Beth Wrightsman finally respond. She failed to talk about their supposed policy of holding a patrons credit card hostage in order to eat there. She clearly didn’t care one iota about that. What she did was flip the script on me and made it all about me and the words I used in my review. She was non apologetic for our horrible experience and infact was very arrogant and belligerent. After some research, I learned that this is NOT their policy. This server lied. And her manager Beth covered for her by gaslighting me. Perhaps to thwart any potential lawsuits or bad press. Nonetheless, I would also learn that other reviews included credit card fraud too. As well as profiling. Seems to be a consistent problem there. Beth Wrightsman has a history of failing to respond to accusations of credit card theft as anyone can see on Yelp. What she does respond to are complaints about straws. Very Bizzare. She’s worried about the turtles while her customers are worried about having their bank accounts emptied, and or being discriminated against. In the end she said I was banned while my husband and son were welcomed. Maturity is not her strong suit. Professionalism is sorely lacking. Straight up bonkers. On a side note, threatening to ban me is null. I would never set foot in an establishment where I am profiled, discriminated against and vulnerable to credit card theft from their employees. In conclusion, we paid in cash because there was no way I was giving this server my credit card. So glad we didn’t! I never got a receipt either. Shady shady shady. There are so many other great places to eat in Pacific Beach, but if you’re going to eat there, I advise you to look at the bill carefully, pay in cash and get a receipt.

I went in for a fun St paddy’s night and had the worst service. To start off with we were seated at a table that had not been cleaned, and it took about 20 minutes to get cleared. We ordered a simple vodka soda, and were served drinks that were not what we ordered. When we told them the mistake, they then brought us the correct drink. However when the bill came we were charged for the drinks we didn’t order and they were unwilling to refund us the amount for the drinks we never ordered, which came to about $40. Our server, Jay, was unwilling to help us and I will never go back. I will never recommend this place due to my experience tonight.

They grill their wings. Although we prefer ours fried, you may not. If you're looking for a different spin on chicken wings, try them out. Service was awesome! Never had an empty glass even though the beers were going down quick. Come try GIANT Connect 4.

Food was great and reasonably priced. Games for adults to play. We went early because of kids. Kids shouldn't really be there after 7PM. Great place for a Steelers fan.

Great place to hang out with friends. The nicest staff ever.Great food, I recommend the Montreal Steakums or the Cobb Salad if you decide to visit this bar.Huge supporter of the Steelers so you can imagine how crowded it gets when they have a game. They also have small events everyweek like the bachelor/bachelorette every Mondays and trivia games every Tuesdays. This is just an overall great place to hang with friends or to make friends at the bar too.

Food is almost always really good. Service is hit and miss but leans on the better side. Whoever is in charge there has got to consider turning down the volume on the TVs to a more appropriate level. The place is 3/4 full and even though it's football you can't even understand what the commentators are saying because it's so loud. It feels like they picked a volume then the crowd talks over it then they set the volume over the crowd and it continues in a circle until the water in your glass is vibrating. Our group would come more frequently but the spot gets voted down if it's a Saturday Sunday or Monday... or bachelor night whichever night that is... Playing the show is fine ... same volume issue but for roses instead of tackles.

This place is a pacific beach staple. They have great wings and appetizers, and overall it’s a good environment. I highly recommend popping in for a quick bite or a beer during football season. Good times and someOf the best wings around. Well worth checking out.

We finished our night of fun at Bub's for a couple more beers, appetizers and good conversation before we headed back to the condo for cards games and some more drinks. This was a great place to end our night. The street was hopping and we sat outside where the weather was perfect. Drinks, food and service was good and fast.

I’ve been a wing fanatic my whole life and been going to Bub’s for Wing Wednesday at least once per month for the last 20 years.By far the best wings in town, hands down. They actually GRILL their huge wings to perfection then douse them in your choice of over 15 handmade sauces unlike Every Other Sports Bar that fries the little wings and tosses them in boring Franks or what they think is amazing sauces. (Dirty Birds is about the same but they do have some eclectic handmade sauces if you’re in to the routine fried, overpriced & smaller hot wing thing).Back when Bub’s Wing Wednesday was $0.25¢/wing you couldn’t find a table for over an hour but it was (and still is) worth the wait.(p.s. Please go back to $0.50¢ Wing Wednesday and your profits (and waitresses/bartenders) will make a ton of income again).Just try it and see how full all your tables are;)When it comes to wing competitions in San Diego I’m really blown away how the other wing competitors in town come close to winningBest Wings In Town when they all just boringly fry their wings instead of standing out, grilling them for way more flavor like Bub’s?Do yourself a favor and go for the flavor ?

Good service and good and reasonably priced food for an NFL Sunday. Service was good and kept the beers coming.
