This place is incredibly unapologetic with poor communication. I sent over inspiration photos for my birthday cake and agreed to an amethyst color cake with some simple decorations and got a green, unattractive cake. My friend is going to try to salvage the design but this place doesn’t deserve its current ratings. Poor communication and didn’t even try to make it right. Despite their response below, their email was NOT clear and they did not state “No Design”. An invoice is generally a basic description of something, no details, and isn’t a communication tool. Call your customers and make sure they understand. It’s sheer laziness and clearly they don’t care about their customer experience. Get your birthday cakes somewhere else or risk getting a totally random cake design.Update: We added flowers to the cake to make it presentable and then cut it and it was like a hard butter cream that was a bit to sweet, the cake itself was just okay (could have bought at a store), and the raspberry “layer” I requested inside was barely there/a joke and you can see what I mean from the picture. The shop has never apologized/continues to blame the customer. ? It’s laughable at this point because it was just such a bad experience.
The frosting on the cupcakes are delicious but I’ve been there multiple times and they are always dry. I just had the salted caramel and It was like they forgot to measure the salt it burned my mouth. Probably won’t be going back after having so many sub par sweets.
Carrot cake cupcake frosting was not sweetened or flavored. It had plain cream cheese on it with no flavor or sweetener. It was quite nasty as far as frosting. I contacted Babycakes and they stated it tastes normal. Since I buy this one often, it does not taste right. I will not buy the Carrot cake cupcake ever again. I cannot recommend this cupcake
Delicious, soft cupcakes that are not too sweet!We ordered cupcakes for our twin girls' first birthday and they were PERFECT!! I wish I had ordered from here sooner for our oldest daughter's birthdays. I cannot recommend them enough for any celebration or occasion or just to treat yourself!
I love a good cupcake but was not impressed by these! I stopped in to see what was available, I was headed toward the salted caramel but got pulled away by the tiramisu cupcake. Unfortunately, it was a dry cupcake and the filling and frosting were underwhelming. I did not taste any coffee in this cupcake.Maybe another choice would have been better .
The absolute best cupcakes in the world.
We stopped in twice while we stayed on Imperial Beach. The service was great and the cupcakes were so delicious. We ordered a half dozen to eat while we were there. I also enjoyed the caramel oat milk latte. A wonderful sweet treat while we enjoyed Imperial Beach.
Amazing cupcakes my favorite by far. The baby cake one is amazing as it has some cookie dough in the middle. Also big fan of the Boston cream cupcake and the tres leches.Loved them so much I had to share and ordered a huge platter of them for a family party. Very accommodating
There is absolutely nothing on the menu that isn't scrumptious. I recommend Babycakes to everyone that asks me for bakery.
The staff was so helpful in explaining their different cakes and sizes available. And they have an abundance of cakes, so no need to order in advance. Just walk in and take away!
