Made a reservation and had to wait 20 mins to be seated. Once seated we waited another 15 mins for our waitress. We had to ask multiple times for water. After reading the raving reviews we expected better. In my opinion Sol Agave across the street is far better, both food and service.
We love South of Nick's, but our server was awful last night. She took no care and was aggressive when servicing our table. She spilled water everytime she refilled our cups and slammed every plate down. Food was great as always but service was very poor.

We were visiting town, looking for a late dinner option, and stumbled upon South of Nick's. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food and drinks were. And our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the jalapeno watermelon drinks and they were well-balanced. The El Mercado salad (pepitas!) and Chicken Tortilla Soup were absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed the bass (great sauce and perfectly done fish) and shrimp taquitos (which were unexpectedly whole shrimp). We got flan for dessert and it was absolutely worth the calories with its wonderfully creamy center. Would definitely recommend this spot.
Tony and Jacob are awesome! Perfect service and great margs. Chips, salsa and guac are on point. Chefs kiss!
We had a great server to begin with. He was very attentive, patient, and nice. Our food was brought by another worker and all looked amazing. We finished all our food without anyone checking in. We were out of water and margaritas the entire dinner. We looked around for our server and no one would approach us. After 30-40 minutes, we had to ask another random worker for help finding someone to help us. Someone else came to help and made us feel stupid for requesting help. He asked if we wanted anything else and we told him we wrote under our reservation that it was a birthday and he replies with âwe can give you a desert (with charge) that comes with a candle.â After being inattentive, he couldnât of been any ruder about it. Our server then came back from being gone for 40+ minutes. He told us the desert would be free of charge. It was an overall fine experience because of the quality of food and drinks but the service was a huge disappointment. Extremely embarrassing to take someone out for their birthday and see all the tables around you get excellent service except for us.
I was able to get into a table early and had amazing service and food. I will be back!
Great service as always. The chips and salsa here are hands down our favorite and the single barrel margarita is simple perfection.
