If the owner/manager wasn't drunk outside trying to get business it would have been great. Sandwiches were delicious, no sides to offer whatsoever. Even a pickle would be nice. Just take him out of your doorway in the evening. BTW we spent $55 on 2 sandwiches

I wanted to give this place 5 stars... We had dinner and breakfast (Italian sub, meatball sandwich, egg tacos, egg burrito) at Caterina's and everything was delicious. I couldn't figure out why Caterina's was less crowded then all of the other places to eat by the pier. The conclusion I have come to is that it's the lack of customer service and general unhappy atmosphere. I made an effort to go inside after I finished our first meal there and told the man who I believe was the owner or manager, that the food was delicious. He didn't smile or offer a gracious thank you. Instead, I got a head nod. I thought maybe he was having a bad day. The next day for breakfast, he was still in the same unfriendly mood. We wanted to eat lunch there after breakfast cuz the food IS GOOD but I didn't want to continue to support a place that was this unfriendly to us. After reading the reviews, I see that I am not alone. Just my opinion, but, I am fairly certain that allowing outside beverages is NOT what is going to hurt your business.

BEWARE YOU WILL BE KICKED OUT IF YOU BRING IN COFFEE OUTSIDE. My bf saw the reviews of poor customer service and immediately regretted ordering from this place, but I thought those were just one off instance. But no, just as he went in to pick up his order an old lady came to kick me out because I had coffee from next door. I explained that I’m waiting for someone that ordered from here, to which she rudely responded ‘doesn’t matter you can’t eat at my table’. If you come to San Clemente don’t come here to ruin your good mood. Let’s get this place to 1 star that it deserves!

If you're craving Gelato at the San Clemente pier you have to check this place out. It's only steps away. There's lots of yummy flavors to choose from and they're made in house. Service is also very good

Terrible place, shouldn’t be in business. Ordered an avocado toast, said they had gluten free bread. Charged an extra four dollars for gluten free making this a twenty dollar slice of toast. Nowhere in their menu do they even mention an extra charge, let alone more than double any other place would charge for that. After paying 20 dollars for a single slice of bread, they asked us to leave because we had a few sips left of our bear coast coffee. There was not a single other person in the restaurant at all. Feels like this place is owned by a big child.Bear Coast let us finish our meal there, apparently this happens a lot.

I genuinely enjoyed my gelato here with my family. The price is fair and I love how there are plenty of seating both inside and outside of this establishment. I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area in San Clemente. They are walks away from the beach and you really can't ask for more than that.I did notice they have some interesting rules of no outside food or laptops at the restaurant. Like it or hate it, bottom line, their restaurant, their rules so keep that in mind. :)

So many delicious items to choose from. Good service. Treat that sweet tooth.

The old woman is nuts that runs this place. Beware of the horrible service and stale food. My pregnant daughter was too hungry to wait for us to get our food inside. So she began to eat from next door. The the woman came out and screamed at her and my 3 year old granddaughter to leave. Kindness goes along ways she may have said something nicer like “maybe you didn’t see the sign” “You can’t being good from outside “ But NO , she just threw her out while we were all inside spending $ & getting food. This place is a bad vibe all together. Go to cafe mimosa or bear coast.

Wonderful selection of flavors and the gelato was really tasty and creamy (I tried the Horchata and Stracciatella). The staff was cheerful and helpful with choosing a flavor and the shop is in a nice place close to the beach area. Nothing better on a hot day than a cool gelato in the hand. So if you’re in the area get a cuppa gelato (or waffle cone in the morning when they’re the freshest).

Terrible customer service. I was there yesterday March 2nd and bought two pieces of candy (peanut butter caramels), gelato (toasted marshmallow, and stracciatella, and a flat latte). The response below is inaccurate. Tim was is a manager there was super rude to me after I spent close to $30.00.
