The food was really really good, we had the pesto sandwich and the cauliflower starter. The only downside is standing in line for a super long time in the freezing cold to place an order. I really think their system does not work well where you have to order outside. There are plenty of waiters that are standing around that can make the entire experience nicer. The prices also don’t justify standing outside in the freezing cold to place an order, consider a beter system or add more places to order.
This is a great place that is worth going out of your way for. At lunch you order at the window and then they bring the food to your table- TONS of tables outside- they took over their entire parking lot and it is a great environment. Fried Chicken sandwich is delicious and the salad was so beautiful- was like a work of art. This place weaves in interesting and unexpected flavors like the pineapple slaw on the chicken sandwich. Definitely keeps it interesting to have these unexpected flavors. Service is friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a trip.
Came here for NYE brunch and it was fantastic. Fresh, delicious food and wonderful friendly staff. Highly recommend!
The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars was the wait time for food delivery..seemed there was some mix up on their end relative to the order being placed.Saltbox made up for it by purchasing all of the adults a second round or their drink order (coffee and beer).The wait staff was cordial, did not defend the wait problem, was funny when one of us gave too much info on an additional order.The food was wonderful and on its own merits is a five...my wife and I split a "hash", and my son had the fried chicken and French toast...all was better than expected.Kudos too to the daily scone, crunchy on the outside, buttery and flavorful on the inside...With the exception of the wait, a wonderful dining experience...
This place has delicious food, great service, and fantastic wine. It's a great place to bring the family or co-workers. The best part is, that there are several vegetarians using an options.
While dining at this restaurant recently, the waiters were kind enough to give us free donuts before our main courses came out! And the donuts were excellent! Thank you Johnston's Saltbox!
My partner and I split a salad and the grilled brie sandwich. The sandwich was remarkable and the salad was very good. You knew it was going to be good though when you realize there is a line of people outside the restaurant before they open. If you are in San Carlos stop in and tell them John sent you. ;-)
What an amazing restaurant! My mother and I split the fried chicken sandwich. It was excellent! Plus the Arnold-palmer was great too. One of the servers gave us a free desert at the end of the meal! A chocolate cheesecake! It was so good! Thank you Johnston's Saltbox! The service at this restaurant is spot-on. No doubt my family and I will be heading back to this restaurant sometime in the near future.
Love the pear salad and who doesn't like fried chicken,lol. The coffee cake was really good too.The Salmon scramble was yummy?.
This restaurant will be a new go to for me. The ingredients are fresh and tase amazing and the atmosphere is great! They have a beautiful back patio with some being in a nice shaded area and some parts being a little more open for those that like sun.
