My local Mexican place - when we are too busy to cook, we grab ourselves some takeout from El Maguey - always a family favorite for us. They have a really tasty fresh salsa bar with some unique homemade salsas, and the food always hits the spot (my go to is the Chile Relleno burrito, my kids go for quesadillas). Horchata if we're feeling indulgent. It's right next to the Caltrain station, so I can walk there on my way home from work, which is super convenient. Staff is nice, service is quick, food is good, and there's a TV that always has soccer on it - what more can you ask for, lol.
We wanted a Burrito for lunch and we were in this area and it turned out to be FANTASTIC! The restaurant is small and parking is very limited but you can park across the street in another business parking lot which has a lot of spaces. This establishment offers online ordering or pick up. There isn’t that many tables inside. The ordering in person was quick and easy. We ordered 2 super burritos with chicken whole beans and all that comes with it. The menu is quite extensive and many choices to choose from. The restaurant was clean and very welcoming.
They had mango agua fresca when I went! I love mango so that was the highlight of my day.Ordered a steak burrito and it was okay— felt like it didn’t have enough flavor.Would come back to try other items on their menu.
Not sure why it took me this long to visit El Maguey. But the moment I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff. The place is very inexpensive and the food is amazing. This is authentic Mexican food. I ordered some tacos and they were delicious, my wife ordered the shrimp fajitas and they were amazing. She couldn't finish the whole plate. Also they have different variety of salsas and every single tasted amazing. This is a great place to get Mexican food around San carlos, and belmont. The only downside is the limited space to dine in. And the parking lot situation. But if you want great tacos, this is the place to go!
When all other restaurants have raised their prices, El Maguey surprised my family and I with not just affordable prices but with delicious food as well.Can't wait to go back

Its funny to read reviews rating this as a “authentic mexican food” I guess a lot of ppl doesn’t know whats the real deal.Anyways meat is good but the tortillas can definitely improve. I like the parking lot.
