They have absolute no regard for their paying customers. The next generation is confrontational, snobby and frankly rude. They have no appreciation for their customers. Attached you will find one of many rude responses from the owner. Go anywhere else - Pizza decent but the attitude is horrible as was the vibe last time we ate there pre-covid. Spend your money elsewhereZelda's Gourmet Pizzasorry we don't jump up and down with delight every time someone walks up to the side door. That's not our style.lol this is what they think about their paying customers. So much more to see but I won't spend all day coping and pasting. Judge for yourself.

It's a unique take on pizza, obviously not for everyone, but we love it. We take home a large regular veggie pie with extra garlic, open the box, and add a dash of salt and little grind of black pepper to bring out the flavor. The crust is savory, medium-thick and crumbly-crisp. As someone said, the crust makes this pizza, so if you like the crust, you'll probably like the pizza. The build of the pie is somewhat unique, with the cheese placed on the crust before the bake, under the sauce. This way, the cheese creates a moisture barrier that keeps the crust dry. We can usually snack on a large pie all weekend, with the last pieces being just as good as the first. Eat it cold or reheat a couple of slices in a large covered frying pan and enjoy. I say "snack," but a slice pretty much makes a meal, especially with a salad or sides. Call and order 50 minutes ahead and pick it up at the side door in the alley. We've never found the service to be rude, but I can see how some might. Let's just say most exchanges are direct and no-nonsense, like one might encounter in New York. Zelda's has been here forever and has a loyal following; we hope they're here for a long time to come.

The owner is super rude. Getting takeout i waited patiently to order and they took the names of people who got there after me to get their pizza and got to me last. And the pizza was disgusting. I get its supposed to be deep dish but it lacked flavor and it had no crust at all just like weird soggy mess

Zelda's pizza is exceptional! Crunchy, buttery crust w/ a perfectly seasoned sauce. I crave it on a regular basis. Please come back with dine-in service (maybe outside?)! Your pizza deserves to be enjoyed hot & fresh.

Not worth it. Overpriced pizza was not deep dish. That is it.

I've been a fan of Zelda's pizza for decades. They've always had a reputation for delicious and unique deep dish pizza and *rude* service. The pizza crust is unlike anything you can find for miles around. This isn't a thick, doughy deep dish! It's thin and flaky like a pie crust, while still being sturdy enough to hold up the toppings. Honestly if the pizza wasn't as amazing as it is, I would probably never go here. Most recent visit I called in an order for pickup, and the person on the phone was perfectly friendly and professional. However, when I came to pick up my order, I was treated very rudely. I stood at the pickup station patiently waiting to be acknowledged by the cashier, while 2 other customers arrived after me. The cashier then asked the people who came *after* me for their names and gave them their orders before even acknowledging my existence. I don't understand why I was served last despite arriving first. Again, if it wasn't for the pizza, I wouldn't come back!

Really good unique pizza. They are struggling through all the covid problems. I encourage you to try their pizza.

This is not yer mamas pizza. This ain’t Pizza Hut pizza. This ain’t no mountain mikes. This is like no other. The care they put into their pizza pies are like no other. I challenge anyone to tell me where they can get a pizza that tastes like that here in Sacramento. Maybe New York - but not on the West Coast. I tried taking a good pic of the pizza but it wasn’t doing it justice so you just get a pic of me outside.

Ordered a large combo Pizza last night. Waited in line outside the back door for over 15 minutes with several others. The older man was the only only person serving waiting customers. He was rude, unorganized, slow with horrible body language that shouted disgust for the irritated waiting customers. When called to the window, while he ordered me and others waiting to keep 6 foot distancing. He actually backed up into the bar area, stopping service to those waiting in line, until we all separated to 6 feet.He called my name, handed me the pizza, and presented the bill. I ordered a side salad and I asked for the salad, like others before me had to do. Delays while the salad was being made. The pizzas were stacked on a shelf getting cold while his inefficiency and horrible attitude slowed everything down to the point where my ordered was now cold.During a brief conversation with him, found out he is the new owner when he complained about no help, masking requirements of staff and greatly renegotiated reduced rent! I have been a patron of Zelda's since they opened in the late seventies and am shocked how far downhill this landmark has spiraled to the bottom. The Covid mandates mess and this owner's reaction to it has apparently made this small business unviable to me as a patron. The service is atrocious. The pizza had few toppings, handed to me cold, very little sauce, over baked crust, salad haphazardly assembled with few ingredients that were too finely chopped. and unripened tomatoes. There are many other choices for pizza where there owners are gracious, pleased for your business and deliver delicious hot food even because of the same governmental demands they also face. It is unfortunate Zeldas has devolved so far and how this owner, that replaced the hard working and so friendly Zelda , has not kept her historic food quality and service up to standards Sacramento has enjoyed since the late 1970's.Another tradition on Friday night destroyed by California's covid Mandates!

I hate writing this critique. For 40 years, Zelda's pizza has taken me back home to my Nana's kitchen. I realize. My last two orders lacked the buttery flaky crust and the taste of good finishing olive oil. The taste has changed notably for me and I miss the authentic flavors...
