My son and I go there every year for his birthday. We’ve never been disappointed. The service was excellent. The food was delicious.
A bit of a drive to get here as we live outside of Sac but well worth it. Located on a quiet residentially sort of area, there is an outside sidewalk part and the main room. We ate inside. The main room is high ceilinged and spacious almost as if the place had a previous life (auto showroom? hangar? who knows...). Chairs are comfortable, made of smooth wicker. The wine list actually drew us here initially - it is complex and diverse and what caught my eye was the Schloss Vollrads riesling ('19) which was, and is, a wonderful lunch wine (had they the Kabinett, would have been even better but I quibble). In the end, we had two bottles, leaving a good glass worth inside for the server who expressed an interest in it but had never tasted. The lunch menu was not extensive but well designed. Lunch was simple and quite good. Scallops were buttery, perfect sear, and the vegetarian gnochi excellent. And - big treat for me - they had an anchovy starter, the white ones, in some oil and greens. Very good bread. All in all, highly recommended for lunch.
Food was good. The duck could use some type of sauce. The sweetbreads was excellent. The service was also excellent I dont think my water glass was ever half full
The food at this place never disappoints. I've eaten here twice in every time. It has been fantastic. The service was phenomenal and the food matches. If you're looking for someplace, nice to take someone. This is definitely the place to go. It's by no means cheap but it's not over the top expensive for what you get. Highly recommend.
I had never even heard of The Waterboy, but strong reviews prompted us to go. Wow. Just wow. Excellent service (quick bussing of tables, replacing of silverware, an extremely attentive and also situationally aware waiter) as well as super good food definitely has added this establishment to our favorites. Thank you for a great night out!(P.S. people complain about the prices, but probably forget that we experienced a 7.5% rise in inflation in 2021. They’re fair prices.)

Wonderful service. Welcoming atmosphere. Short rib entree was delicious as well as dessert. The foccacia was too salty for my liking. I'd definitely go back to try other items.
Visiting my brother from Alabama, and he recommended this place. We came in and had a couple of bottles of wine and a couple of orders of oysters! Delicious! The best part of the experience was John, the most charming bartender in Sacramento. He was missing the bowtie—great engaging personality, patient and adorable smile. Next time I am in town visiting, I’ll be returning.
