The food was good, the fries were perfectly cooked.The waitress was beyond rude. I had an issue with my order. There was a pickle on my plate with my Philly cheese steak, I am allergic to pickles and didn't realize there would be a pickle on the plate. It wasn't listed on the menu, and I've never had a Philly cheese steak served with a pickle. I very politely told her that I didn't expect a pickle and that I am allergic and I was unsure what to do, I asked if they could just cut that part of my sandwich off, throw my fries away, and put the rest of my sandwich onto a different plate. She told me that I should have known there would be a pickle on there because, "that's our thing, everyone knows that," well I'm from out of town, so I didn't know that! I always know which foods are likely to come with a pickle, Philly cheese steak isn't one of them generally.She told the cooks to just cut off that part of my sandwich and throw the fries away and put it on a different plate. The cook ended up making me new fries, and they were delicious, so I am glad that he did! We were there for about an hour and a half, and the waitress did not check on us once. I had to flag her down to get a refill.Worst server experience I've had.The food was good though.
being in that place is like going down memory lane for those of us who are old enough. You can pick your favorite songs at the table while you enjoy your food. Big portions (too big for me) but tasty.
The service was great! steak was great! The seasoned red potatoes didn't taste seasoned at all. They were covered with green onions. They didn't taste good because I don't like green onions and would have preferred some seasoning.
Always a good experience eating here! The eggs Benedict is always on point add a malt shake and it's a meal. Mel's has such a great vibe I hope it never goes away!
I would not recommend ordering online for delivery. If they mess up your order, they will expect you to be the one to do the work to make it right. I am stuck without a car today, and they messed up my order. When I called they said they would be happy to take care of it. Then I called back to see if they had an ETA and they told me it was already ready, I could come pick it up whenever I wanted. Does me a lot of good, I would have to pay for a ride to go pick it up. Thanks a lot for making your customers pay for your mistakes.
The staff was great, food was delicious, just a few small mistakes on our order, but other than that it was a nice place to have lunch and see all the memorabilia on the walls.
Old school American diner style eatery offering a selection of all day breakfast and classic burgers and sandwiches. I like the vintage old time interior decoration including the mini jukebox at some of the booths. The food was decent and the menu offered a few choices but nothing impressive. The service was excellent (it was early Saturday morning and there were nearly any dine-in customers). Plenty of free parking in the lot outside. One complaint i had was my toasts were too soft for my liking. Would prefer them to be more crispy. Other than this, no other complaints.
I've been to this diner off & on since my college days and it's your typical diner & breakfast fare. They no longer offer the $5.99 steak & egg special (thanks inflation) but they add still produce a good meal. I suggest the biscuits & gravy instead of toast with your order. I know they offer burgers and sandwiches but I find myself picking their breakfast every time. The place is clean, cozy, and they still have the juke boxes at the tables. Good food & memories.
Mel's diner is most of the time Pleasant. However for some reason this one day they just couldn't get my order right. The bread was old and falling apart. The meat was good oh, the fries were great, the salad was really good too. The bread just never stayed together so I had to have my order remade. They did that with no hassle though. I would recommend Mel's Diner. Great place to take your family I don't have a good meal.
Should have not ate here since parking is never full, a sign, but we did even though they lost our order, drinks arrived slow, jukebox doesn't work at table, dirty tables, food salty and not good, my burger bun on bottom was cut almost in half, if the cook wasn't too busy trying to talk to the young girl trying to clean maybe our order would not have gotten lost, and the food would have at least been decent, only like two other tables there. Never going again. It's no wonder the parking lot is always empty.
