I got food poisoning ever since I ate there. Food was flavorless and service was mediocre. My takeout order didn't come with raita even though the menu said that the thali comes with it. I called and management said raita is for dine in only which makes no sense and it isn't mentioned anywhere on the menu.Won't come here ever again.
Only been here for takeout but this place has great food and service. It’s easy to place a takeout order and they’re prompt. They also have good bike parking in front. It’s our go-to spot for an easy dinner in the neighborhood!
Placed an order for pick up, and only recieved part of my order. I didn't check upon picking up but I realized when I arrived home. I tried to call, but there was no answer. My lamb curry was luke warm and the sampler appetizer was very lacking in comparison to the description on the menu.
Great tasting food! The masala chicken and chicken curry both have different taste! I love how they plate the food! The Naan was super fresh and anything you dip it in it will be wonderful! The customer service is excellent as well. Super fast service! They serve Indian beer and I've never had any before but the Taj mahal was the one she recommended and it was also good.
Didn’t know they changed ownership. But I have to tell you, our family agrees that the food was even better than before. We’re definitely going back.
We love the new management and chef! The dishes we ordered were lamb tikka masala (medium), paneer saag (mild), pappadum, mango chutney, and chai. All the dishes were all delicious, flavorful, and served by a friendly and very professional hostess. The ambiance was casual making it a relaxing place to talk, enjoy a good feast, and sip hot chai.
Really flavorful and delicious northern Indian/nepali food! Great pakora, kabuli (coconut and raisin) naan, and vegetables. Very affordable for what you get! Excited to try more.

Star of India Curry and Grill is absolutely amazing. My husband and I always enjoy a lunch getaway especially since we live in Modesto.
We had their Chicken Momo for an appetizer with two dipping sauces. Dinner was their Lamb and Mushroom dish with daal, veg and rice. Then we had a side order of Prawn Tikki Masala. The food was good but the service was a tad slow, but our server was very nice! Definitely will be coming back!!
