Food was immaculately presented, delicious and surprisingly well priced for what was offered. The ambience was warm and a little chic. I'm super impressed and will be back again. Try the BTS! I have had a version of this dish at several Japanese style restaurants in town but this was BY FAR the best. A great addition to Uptown. I cannot wait for my next visit.
Amazing sushi. The owner and his staff take pride in their work & it shows in the food and friendly service they provide. Fresh fish & housemade Unagi sauce keep us coming back for more. They have several "don't miss" items that are my favorite...Secret Tofu, Electric Eel roll, & Nachos. Go here and enjoy ..hidden gem
Southpaw Sushi was delicious! It had been on my list to try for a while but just had not gotten to visit yet. I am glad I finally went. The BTS was an amazing spicy starter with seared albacore, jalapeños and a spicy chili oil. Then I ordered the Chuck Norris roll which had spicy tuna inside, seared tuna on the outside with a hot Sriracha sauce on top. Very delicious! Finished off dinner with the uptown roll. Asparagus, tempura shrimp, jalapeños and several sauces. Absolutely ordering that one again next time. The restaurant is cozy, great quality fish and a wonderful staff. I could tell they have a great following as most of the staff was constantly chatting with customers. Can't wait to go back!
I recently moved to North Sacramento and was blown away when I found this amazing local gem and my new go-to sushi spot. I'm almost afraid to post such a good review since the laid back vibe and dining room full of regular customers ready to share their favorite menu items and spark up friendly conversation is one of the best parts about this place. It seems that everyone that comes here can't help but keep coming back. They offer an imaginative menu with high quality ingredients and large portions at a reasonable price. They aren't pretentious about what they deliver, but everything is executed with a level of playfulness and finesse that keeps everyone coming back. Shout out to two of the masterminds we've had the pleasure of getting to know Kelly (FOH) and Shaq (sushi chef). Definitely do yourself a favor and check out the best sushi restaurant in Sacramento.

Wow! This is our second time going to this restaurant, we loved it first time so we convinced our friends to join us and … bingo! They loved it as well. And what’s not to love? Great service: Molly was our server the first time and she was excellent: superknowledgeable, friendly and fast! We had Kristi the second time and she was excellent as well and made great suggestions. Food is amazing! We had one vegan, one vegetarian , one pescatarian and two omni in our group and we all ended up with full, happy bellies! Edemame, miso soup, sushi, nigiri, sashimi! All fantastic, fresh snd super tasty! Will be back with more friends!!!
I have been to many sushi restaurants in my life, but none compare to the experience I had tonight when I visited Southpaw Sushi. Many sushi restaurants serve a wide variety of rolls that may seem to provide variety to its patrons. Unfortunately, those sushi restaurants lack flavor complexity despite the dozens of different options. This is because those sushi restaurants use the same sauces on nearly every roll, making each roll taste nearly identical and masking the true flavor potential for the seafood. Southpaw Sushi is the beacon of light amongst a myriad of mediocre sushi restaurants.From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with sincerity from all the staff that was within sight. Lou's welcoming personality as I sat at the bar made me feel like we were friends for years. The flavors of the different rolls and seafood that I was served were exquisite. Each roll had a truly unique flavor and I could tell one roll from the next just by taste. Both Lou and my server took the time to learn me and my family's names. It is this level of service that will keep me coming back to Southpaw Sushi.
Ordered curbside pickup, which took 20 minutes longer than the estimated time. The food was all delicious though. We especially loved the Ziggy roll and the brussel sprouts.
