Ok. There's several different reasons for this rating. Food, Wait and Customer Service! Food....my wife got a two-way. Ribs and Links with potato salad and greens. The ribs were tough. The links, greens and potato salad were all pretty good. I ordered the catfish dinner with fries and Red beans and rice. The catfish was overcooked. Some parts were soft and good but there were parts that were dry. So the food was above average. The wait was extremely too long!! The reason was that they couldn't handle the walk in orders and a catering event that they were cooking for. I ended up waiting around 50 minutes or a little more! While I was waiting there were several guys making multiple trips to a truck was a lot of food prepared for a large event. That food kept coming out of the kitchen but walk in orders were slow to be filled. So waiting was a one Star ⭐ for sure. Now to customer service....the young ladies at the register were very good!? None of this were there fault and they were taking the attitude from a few customers for the delay. They ran out of Mac n Cheese at 3:00pm and they had to make more (or heat some more up). This added to the wait. The owner is another story. I don't know this lady and she doesn't know me but I knew that she was the owner. When she came from the back of the business she didn't say one word to any of the customers! Acknowledge your customers and apologize for the LONG wait at least. But to just walk by us and don't utter a word. Totally unacceptable! Please do better. That was a zero for me.

The food was very tasty. Seasoned very well and not too salty. I had the 2piece chicken with macaroni and cheese and red beans and rice as my sides. Mac&Cheese was deliciously creamy and flavorful. The red beans&rice is made with turkey meat, a very thoughtful touch. I had a great experience and will be coming back to try some deserts
The only positive thing about this place was the service. The woman who took my order up front was really nice and professional. The food was extremely disappointing. I ordered gumbo and a shrimp Po Boy sandwich. The sandwich was decent. Not good, but not bad. The gumbo is why I knocked off 2 full stars. I paid $20 for basically a container of roux. We counted exactly one sausage and then some bits of chicken. No other meat, just a whole container of liquid. Not worth it and I hate feeling like I was ripped off. I tried supporting a local black owned soul food business but I will surely look elsewhere next time.
Red snapper was served cold. I’m pescatarian so I didn’t order sides that’s prepared with meat. I got 2 sides of macaroni and cheese. They were out of peach cobbler. Over all not impressed I will not return.
I enjoyed this restaurant the name really explains itself. Excellent customer service on point ? the food was so delicious ? I told my brother I'm glad I don't live near by because I know for sure I would had went back the next day .I ordered the 2 meats 2 sides meal Catfish and Red Snapper , Mac n Cheese and Greens it also came with a piece of cornbread I tried the Alligator bites with a special sauce on them with a Tropical Punch Kool-aid on the side and some Peach Cobbler. Food was amazing i haven't had boudin or fried catfish sense Texas. Definitely worth the wait. Staff were very nice even with a rush of people coming in for lunch. Would recommend and will return. ?
I love supporting Black owned businesses truly I do. Sorry to say this was horrible. Oxtails with gravy...FYI every meat makes its own gravy so you don't have to add a non oxtail gravy over the meat. Also oxtials had no taste, I didn't say salt since whenever someone mentions taste people think salt.. I had the cabbage and they were full of oil and tasted scorched. I just threw away $26.00. We have to do better, if something is burnt throw it away don't give that to your customers because they will remember.
This restaurant has the best Creole / soul food/ barbecue in Sacramento. It is located in the valley High area. Parking is really easy, and there is outdoor seating. The owner is very nice and respectful and the front of the house staff are a true representation of the high quality of food that is served. Everything is good!!! I came to the restaurant to do a project for work and I have been back almost every day since. I took the food back to work and let my staff taste it and everyone was extremely impressed. They take pride and how they prepare the food and everything is presented very well. The portion sizes are large! It is just like going down south and having homemade food.
When the south meets the south, you get some delicious heaven. I ordered the fried chicken with the two sides, and let me tell you, it was amazing. The rice and red beans was good, the Mac n cheese was thick just right, and the chicken didn't need anything else unless it's hot sauce. Great spot.
