This place is great we had large portions of brisket with our sandwiches and it was very reasonable for the price oh and it was delicious!You choose from three different barbecue sauces after you receive your order that you can pour into a container, original,sweet and spicy. If you're looking for authentic barbecue, look no further JR's has you covered! Longtime Roots in the Sacramento community. This establishment has been here for decades. Our first visit but you can tell by the atmosphere and photos that this place has a long-stand in history with locals and celebrities alike for dishing out great barbecue.
Beware of JR's for catering. If they talk you into paying them to serve the food, they will take the left over food with them. This is not industry standard!!!! Also, the serving staff refused to give second helpings to our guests and then took the remaining food. The told us this was a health department regulation. I called the heath department and was informed there is no such regulation.
The food was good, the customer service was terrible. They catered my little brothers wedding for 110 people when our beloved guests went back for seconds they were yelled and and miss treated. I can not believe how we all were treated by the owners granddaughter. We payed for all you can eat....
I was at the opening of JRs restaurant years back, and have gone multible times since then. My Daughter was getting married and I thought it would be great to hire them to cater the event. We spoke to JR and he talked us in to having servers at the event. As the night went on there was over 15 people that did not show up so there was a lot of food left over. The servers, JR niece! Said they were getting ready to leave and we asked about the left over food and they said we can't leave it because of laws. No one at the party had ever experienced this at events. We called multible big catering company's and they all said if you have coolers or refrigerator to keep it safe we wrap it up, it yours you bought it!. The bartender who does events during the week talked to them and they told her to leave them alone she's just a bartender. They were also rude to the guest when asked about it. I called JR and he was very unhelpful and his response was whats the problem the guest ate! I asked what's the difference if you would have dropped it off we would have had all the food and his response was that's how we do it. We will never go or recommend this company to anyone. One more thing, we contacted the health department and there is no law on this, that was a flat out LIE!!
My 1st time here. This place is super legit the owner is so nice he has good hospitality ❤️ the food was fresh and hot. I love the brisket it was so tender and juicy. The spicy bbq was definitely spicy lol. Love this place.
Real smoke BBQ. I got the 2-2-2 Mac n cheese and potato salad. Pork ribs are ok I favor the beef ribs more. Real smoke flavor tender, cook to perfect. Brisket was really good. The fatty pices had much more flavor I did have a pice very tender but it was dry(no fat on it). All the meats go very well with the BBQ sauce. If you don't have the skills or time to spend smoking ribs and brisket 8+ hours. Or just a foodie go try JR's you won't be disappointed.
JR is awesome and the food is great. Unfortunately puts me in a food coma every time. BOne of my go to places for lunch regardless.
Very tender beef,potato salad is exceptional.A friendly,casual place.Decent prices.You get a lot of meat in your order.
This place popped up when we Googled best BBQ in Sac. Good call, Google. Servings were enormous, food was wonderful, and staff was great (woman cooking, man taking orders). Highly recommended!
