The food was fantastic. It reminded me of real Chinese food from the 80's and 90's, before Chinese food became commercialized. The ambiance was comfortable but the space was a little cramped, but not suffocating. The serving size was plenty, given the price. I didn't think it was overpriced at all. My family of 4 ate very well, 5 dishes, no cocktails, and it was under $150, including the tip. We will dine there again, and would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Frank Fat is one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. It’s been years since I had gone. I want with friends Thursday. We had Martinez to start. We ordered so much. Everything was so good. Love the banana cream pie. Had a wonderful time. Will be back.
Sacramento gem! Always a treat to dine at this location. Excellent food and service, very consistent. I have enjoyed everything I've had here. Favorites include the duck noodles, fried chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and wonton soup. Also the Madame Chang cocktail is delicious and refreshing. Don't forget the famous banana cream pie! Love making memories with my family here! ?
This place took a group of 19 of us with short notice right as they usually would be closing and let us stay until an hour after their usual closing time. The food was very tasty and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. We had 2 dishes not make it to our table, but the waiter apologized as the kitchen was closed and gave us some of their chocolate cream pie on the house.
Love the iconic 1939 Sacramento venue! Super vibe!I highly recommend the Honey Walnut Prawns. Save room for banana cream pie!
Stopped by for banana cream pie, stayed for combination platter and house chow mein. The sauce flight was delicious - spicy, bitter, and sweet! The spicy mustard and ketchup were a welcome throw back to my youth. A bit pricey, but the drinks and service were well worth it.
Sherry and Gabe were the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered. Made my friend and I feel incredible about the whole experience - even though we were wearing ratty ski clothes. Awesome recs for food and helped us out with the Valet. Thanks you two!
Frank Fat’s is a historic Chinese cuisine restaurant; just down the street from the State Capitol building. In business for over 80 years! The food is amazing and really is an experience to be had. I ordered the Honey Glazed BBQ pork (my favorite in town) along with some vegetables. They have an excellent bar/ alcohol selection as well.P.S.Must try the banana cream pieAnthonyxibarrax
Worst Chinese place I've been too in a long time. I ordered a beer it was hot. The way they make u get your food is stupid and weird. One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. I can get Chinese food just as good if not better at the mom and pop Chinese spot for a fraction of the price. I will never eat at fat Frank's again.
I tried downtown restaurant week menu. It was the first time to visit here. I got mai tai fat which is a little sweet rum based drinks. It is so great. All of their staff are super nice and well trained. Server is knowledgeable and kind. Their plates are warm, so you can enjoy your hot food for a while. For appetizers we got spring rolls and pot stickers. Pot stickers looks like ordinary but when you bite, you can feel juicy and tender. For Entrees we got honey walnut prawns, saigon crispy chicken, garlic green beans, cauliflower with beef and shrimp fried rice. My favorite is honey walnut prawns. It’s enough shrimp for 2 people and it goes well with their toasted walnut. Saigon crispy chicken was a little salty but when you have it with the veggies or rice, it’s good. Garlic green beans are perfectly cooked. It’s not too soggy. Cauliflower with beef use tender soft beef which goes well with crunchy vegetables. Last dessert was banana cream pie. I love their pastry part of this! They used raw banana that are not sugared. It feels pretty fresh and different. Willing to visit again as a group since they have enough space for people too.
