Maybe the rest of the menu is fine, but the chicken strips are robbery. These used to be meaty, flavorful strips that are now worse than what you'd find at a carnival. A recent reviewer's photos are accurate --- you're paying nearly $20 for frozen, store-bought strips (and I genuinely suspect they are using prepackaged strips). Definitely getting robbed if you buy chicken strips from this place!
Worth a visit. Delicious food with crispy and spicy chicken that you come here looking for. Multiple base sauces that are spicy keeps things fresh if ordering the same dish. I normally visit for lunch and recommend calling in the order.
I decided to keep buying the chicken strips from the Natomas location because they still had the old recipe. We decided to order again today and I am VERY disappointed because they changed the strips here too. They are nowhere near as good as they used to be. They are hard, crunchy, and dry. They have way too much breading now and it's gross. You can barely tell there is chicken in the strips anymore each bite because it's no longer juicy. BonChon used to be unique and now they sold out to have cheap inedible chicken strips that I can just go buy at the grocery store. It's sad they changed one of the best things they had. My boyfriend and I will no longer be buying from BonChon and will try to find another Korean place that makes good strips.Change your chicken back to the way it used to be.
I used to love this place, easily a five star eating experience. The chicken was tasty, the sauce was tangy, and the light breading was perfectly crisp and unique. But now, I don't know what they were thinking. The strips seem like something you can get out of a freezer section of the grocery store. They are over-breaded with a coating that is much too dry, hard, and flavorless. I will no longer be eating at this establishment until such a time that they return to the original recipe.

I REALLY need to learn the techniques for Korean style fried chicken. This chicken was crispy, tender, juicy and started that way from quite a bit! Would happily gorge myself on it again and again
My family has eaten at this location quite often since they opened. We always order the same thing (chicken strips 20 count). We placed our usual order for pickup and I didn't even think to check the order. I got home and opened the bag and was floored. I was sure they had given us a kids meal by mistake. I called the restaurant and they said that they had changed the strips. If you change an item you should let people know when they order and change the pictures online. The new strips are TERRIBLE! They are prebattered frozen tiny strips no flavor just gross. The entire meal fit in a box the size of a Big Mac container. The old strips were great an unless they bring them back we won't be back either.
I like bonchon, it is better than the Popeyes and KFC in my opinion. The only issue I have is they do not have many flavor options . It's either spicy, or soy garlic. The spicy is dialed up too high for most people. The soy garlic is good. They are a little on the pricey side, but that just keeps the family from eating too much of this good stuff.
My family have always loved Bonchon... today was the first time we dined in again after the lockdown was lifted.We ordered take out a lot of times and they never got our orders wrong, unlike some of the other places... and most of the time the food was really good... we've tried almost everything on the menu.Staff was always polite and friendly from answering the phone thru picking up our food.So today, I took my Mom out to lunch and were greeted and shown to a table right away... masks and social distancing were pretty much implemented.We ordered tofu soup, ginger salad with tofu and japchae which were all generously portioned. Our server was attentive and on-point the whole time. We also ordered the Salmon Ball and the Family Meal to take home.All in all it was a good lunch not just because the food was good but mainly because of the staff working that day. They gave the place a light and cheerful atmosphere. And I thank Bonchon for that.
