Found this on Google when searching for new restaurants in Sac. When we got here on Friday for lunch around 11:45, and it was empty. We were worrying that the food might not be good. The waitress was nice and friendly. There are many dishes on the menu. We order 4 dishes and all were good and delicious. The dishes took a while to come out because every dishes were made fresh. The price was reasonable. We love Indian and Pakistani food. We have tried many Indian restaurants and we think this is the best so far in Sac. Will be back to try other dishes.
Food here is made fresh, therefore you might have to wait a little bit. In our case, we called ahead of time (30 minutes), so when we sit down, Zee, the magnificient server immediately brought all of our orders over, with wonderful attitude, every time. The place always had people coming and going, if you drive by and don't see people at the window, it's because they're sitting inside (behind the partition), but if you sit in the front, you'll enjoy the nice view of trees across the street, ample parking front and back, it's nice. Aloo Gobhi is the best vegetable entree here, Lamb Korma Curry is so tasty, Al-Maidah' special Tandoori chicken is to die for, and so is Chicken Tikka Masala. I could only name a few above, but I must say, all of their entrees are sooooo good. Their naans are out of this world, especially garlic naan, I like the most is the plain nann.
Excellent. Delicious meal and great service. We ordered chicken tikka massala (creamy tomato sauce), bharta (roasted eggplant mashed with onions), goat paya (slow cooked trotters), wonderful basmati, veggie samosa, gol gappa (cute hors d’oeuvre), butter naan, and mango lassi. $64 total was reasonable to us. It would have been enough food for a 3rd adult but we left with plenty of leftovers. Our 6 year old was adventurous and tried several items. I highly recommend this restaurant without hesitation.
Indian food is my absolute favorite, and Al-Maidah had some pretty great food! The butter sauce is amazing, and the karahi really good as well!!! Giving a 4 out if 5 due to no papadum on the menu, and rice had to be ordered separately from the curry. Best rice pudding I’ve ever had- light on the cardamom, which was perfect!
Best Indian cuisine dinner I have ever had. The spices and freshness were along the lines of comfort food. Friendly service, meals are made fresh so don’t be in a huge hurry.
I had taken the kids out as it was my little sons birthday. We decided to have dinner here. It was near to their closing time but the manager accepted us and the food was on time delicious and worth every penny spent. On top of that there was a little birthday decoration which we asked if we could use to cut the cake and he said of course we could :)
Came on a Thursday night trying to order take out through the phone but neither number worked. Went in person to order, and chose the Beef Nehari. Paid then went to get gas around the corner only to come back and the cashier tells me their out of the dish after ordering. They refunded me the difference to get chicken tikka masala and it was pretty run of the mill wedding style chicken tikka masala. For a baseline Indian dish that virtually serves as the standard for westernized “Indian food” it was nothing to be impressed by. Satisfy a craving? Sure. Impress you and make you want to come again? Kinda depends what your threshold is for “good” Indian/Pakistani food. It’s standard with nothing to brag about. This was also the first Indian restaurant I’ve been to with a security guard? They are understaffed (hard to tell who worked there and who didn’t) and the place wasn’t too busy. Portion size was good for probably two people but even then your spending $20+ for the dish, roti, and rice. This is the only place in the Arden arcade area for Indian food and I want it to succeed it just was not comparable to other places in Sacramento (Natomas). If your going to spend the money and want to be impressed it’s worth to drive to Natomas and get something over there Shalimar, kabob king, curry corner, clay oven etc. They are all better. Really wanted better from this place.
Stopped in here a couple months ago and had an incredible meal. I ordered the chicken korma with rice and a mango lassi. The server was very friendly and the food came out promptly. I loved it so much I came back here earlier this week for the lunch special. BABY WHEN I TELL YOU the special is the move! I got lamb curry, chicken curry, rice, side salad, garlic naan and a cup of tea for $15! The leftovers have been in my fridge for the last couple days as I’ve had them as part of other meals. I had some for breakfast because the food was that good.
Very clean restaurant and delicious food I like the manager too she was so nice
We really enjoyed this new restaurant in Sacramento. Spicy Indian/Pakistani food is one of our favourites and this place does not disappoint. We had the Goat Korma and a spicy Tandoori chicken dish that came with rice. Also got a side of Naan. Prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent.
