Tonkotsu ramen: 2.5 stars. Lacking in flavor. Only half an egg. The broth could’ve been hotter (temperature wise). Ryujin Ramen house in dt sac has better quality for RamenSushi: 3 stars. I don’t like a lot of sauce on my sushi. I want to enjoy the flavors of everything else. Other than the excess sauce, the rolls and fillings were good amountsThe inside of this place is way bigger than I originally thought! Definitely enough seating for a big group of peopleDecent service, waitresses weren’t around a whole lot if you needed something, but we got our order in good timing, the wait for food wasn’t long and they came around for water refillOverall, decent lunch experience but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come eat here
I went here on weekend lunch and it’s so packed. I had donkotsu ramen and my husband had sashimi combo. Although it’s weekend, they have lunch menu. Ramen was so flavorful. I like their cha sue in the ramen. Usually cha sue has it’s certain meat smell but they don’t have! I like this donkotsu the best in Sacramento. Sashimi is also fresh and good. Casual atmosphere and family friendly.
Quick to be seated and our food came fairly fast for Sunday dinner rush. We will definitely be back
They should be embarrassed with their sushi and service. The fish on top of each $20 roll was the size of a dime. It was laughable. We didn't even bother telling anyone, we just won't come back. After years of patronage, last 3 visits were like this. Really sad to see. And I know COVID ravenged restaurants, but they raised their prices to accommodate. And this should not happen. $150 bill and nobody was satisfied.
Love this place especially when it comes to the Ramen. I was more of a pho lover until I met Akebono. Deliciousness is the only way to describe it! Sushi is great too you won’t be disappointed guaranteed!!!!
Fantastic food at great prices. Many selections. All delicious and with really fresh and good quality ingredients. I also think the beer that was on draft was as pure as it could be. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had the best teriyaki beef with tempura I have had in a long time.
Worst sushi we have ever had. Called ahead to see if they had the roll we were wanting to order. They said they were open until 9pm and last call for food was 8:30pm. We got there just after 8. Brought soup with no spoon, water with no straw, 2 napkins for entire table. At 8:14 they said last call for food....I questioned it and told her on phone they said 8:30pm. That should have been my cue to cancel our orders and leave. Then food comes out and has hair on one of the rolls. Fish on other roll was not fresh. They rushed us the entire time despite there being other tables of individuals there. Horrible food, horrible service, overpriced, will never return. Would have been better off eating cereal at home!
The restaurant looks completely new and better than its opening year in 2010. Presently the food quality is very good. They have more combo dish selections. The main floor is well light and bright and have reprint art posters of Japan going through the 20th Century. They have secondary dining floor that is well light and bright.
Extensive menu of standard Japanese fare not limited to sushi. Food is consistently yummy and staff are always happy to see you. Atmosphere is clean but lacks character.
The sushi was dry and not very tasty. I had the spider roll. The sesame chicken bento was good though. We didn't receive good guest service.
