First time at this bakery and I haven't had a lot of Dim Sum in general. This place pretty good in my opinion, especially for the price despite the rapid and constant price escalation since COVID.The workers here want you to be fast as they get really busy and are no nonsense fairly typical Asian food service that does to go only. They don't take same day phone orders (at least when I called on a Sunday) because they are extremely busy and make a limited supply of all items. When I arrived there were no Shanghai Soup Dumplings and I arrived before noon. Menu picture does not include all item prices.IMO it's rare for a place, let alone a random little place like this to be as good as this place is. Despite it's flaws, anyone in the area definitely must try this place.Pork Siu Mai - Huge partially wrapped pork meatball. Very large, meaty, chewy in a good way. Largest I have ever seen/eaten. Great flavor imo, although the size of them kind of skews the ratio of meat to wrapping that I like. Similar texture to that of vietnamese meatballs but with chunks of stuff inside. Worth a try for a great price.Egg tart - Soft and mildly sweet egg filling in a golden beautifully flaky crust. It was a solid egg tart, maybe the best I've had (not many tried). I just have no desire to eat these so I wouldn't get them again.Shrimp dumpling/har gow - Shrimp and bamboo shoot in a translucently colored dumpling wrapper. I felt like it would've been really good... if it was fresher. Idk what the problem was, basically shrimp and bamboo shoot, but something tasted off/unfresh. Bamboo shoot tasted more like old asian man breath smell. Maybe it was a bad batch.Chicken Curry Bun - Soft semi sweet bun filled with a mild curry chicken filling. Good, fairly sweet however. Decent ratio of filling and flavor, not really spicy at all.Hotdog Bun - 4 chunky slices of hot dog evenly placed on a delicious semi sweet bun sprinkled with green onion. I like the hotdog to be more spread out but it was very delicious and looked great too.Bbq pork bun - Soft sweet bun filled with Chinese style BBQ Pork filling. Good, had that five spice kind of flavor, quite sweet but not sure if that's normal. My girlfriend didn't like the level of sweetness but I thought it was fine. Good ratio of filling to bun ?Pineapple buns - Soft bread with a delicious crust on top and fantastic custardy cream filling. Must get. It is very yummy. Sometimes the creamy filling is a little sparse but even just the bread is delicious. Reheated it in the air fryer and it tasted like a cinnabon. Not super pineappley if you're scared of that.Sesame balls - Sesame seed covered mochi balls filled with red bean. Must get. Best sesame balls I've eaten (not tried many) delicious and fair size. Outstanding quality.Mochi pancakes - pan fried mochi pancake with filling. all quite good and I think I would crave the red bean and custard one occasionally, bbq pork filling was kind of lacking.Fried pork dumplings - Mochi like wrapper filled with spiced pork. Decent flavor of five spice and good amount of filling
Horrible service!!! The young female cashier was very rude -had an attitude problem and very impatient!!My husband and I decided to try out this place, because his friend said they served good Dimsum. We waited patiently in line outside until it was our turn to be helped. The girl gave my husband an attitude when he asked nicely for the typical steamed bun stuffed with pork. She rolled her eyes as she pointed to the menu above and told him to select one. She expected us to know what was on their menu and be ready to place it right away when we got to the counter. Mind you, it was our first time there so we didn't know what they had. The atmosphere felt very hectic! She also gave me an attitude when I asked for an item. We were planning to buy a large variety of food to bring home to our family, but we felt very rushed! We ended up getting just a dz of siu mai, 1 order of chicken feet, and 4 steamed buns, totalling approx $40. The siu mai & chicken feet tasted just like any other typical Dimsum restaurants' but the steamed bun was horrible -stuffing was salty and the bun was chewy with a rubbery-like texture.Overall experience was terrible, terrible, terrible!!! Unbelievably poor customer service + average/horrible food!! I would give them zero star if possible! This was our first and will be our last visit! I will just stick to the restaurants on Stockton Blvd (ie., Happy Garden, King Palace, Asian Pearl) where they know how to appreciate their customers!
Sometimes this place can be a hit or miss. Reason why I'm saying that is because sometimes they run out of the certain food that you want but sometimes they have it. And you'll get lucky if you get to buy the ones that are made fresh. I got lucky and got the hotdog with the bread fresh and let me tell you what it is the best hotdog with bread I ever had. The freshness of the bread and how soft and fluffy when you bite into it you just know that it's authentic. I've had the curry chicken bun and thats pretty good too but the hotdog with the bun is where it's at oh and on another note sometimes the hotdog with the bun also can not be fresh when you buy it and thats not as worth it as having it fresh. I've had the egg tart from here as well and thats also really good and worth it. Also I've had the shu mai and shrimp dumplings and they're pretty good but I wouldn't consider it top tier. Lines can be long sometimes but sometimes it's usually worth the wait
What else?! What else?! What else?!….. chill lady (the owner lady with glasses), I guess she’s having a bad day and taking out on her customers. She always been nice and kind. Idk what happened today.I have been coming here for a while, customer service progressively getting worse as the line grew longer. I have also noticed the quantity of their meats have gotten worse. It have got to a point that it’s not worth it going to ABC Bakery for me.
This bakery ALWAYS has a line out the door that can be halfway down the block. Great place to get Chinese baked goods as well as dim sum. We really love getting the curry beef puffs, which is flaky like their apple turnovers but with a savory filling. We usually order the night before to make sure we get what we want since we otder in larger quantities than a typical walk up order.
My favorite place for dimsum in town. I often order Big Steam Bun, Sesame ball, daikon cake and shrimp ball.Waiting line might be long during weekend but reasonable waiting time.
The cookies are great the customer service is terrible. Took two orders, several emails and two phone calls later for them to to deliver to the hopefully deliver to the correct address. Made this mistake twice, gave us no money back or credit for having to drive to get our order at the incorrect address, twice.
ABC Bakery is an hidden treasure in South Sacramento. Literally. It's tucked away in the back of a shopping center and typically has a line out the door on the weekends. This is the perfect dim sum spot to load up on all your favorites at great prices, like this hot dog bun and these sesame balls.
ABC Bakery is temporarily closed! I drove by today, and they had a sign in their window that they were closed until either January 26th or 28th due to the pandemic? (I can’t recall which day because I was so bummed they were closed!) I will just have to be patient until they reopen! I give them 5 stars because their food is amazing!
Good stuff. Will be back.. Go early, they didn't have everything I wanted, but it was good
