I ordered the French Dip sandwich with fresh roasted turkey. Got smoked, pressed Turkey meat (the kind you get in the grocery store from oscar meyer) for a $17 sandwich NOT to have real fresh roasted turkey is a complete RIP-off. We spend a lot of money supporting local businesses and this is my first bad restaurant review.I gave 2 stars because the rest of the order (2 tri tips) was good for the others that ate. Please stop cutting corners at the expense of your customers, needless to say, I won't go back.
The Roseville area can't make BBQ and this place is no different.I'm thinking they pressure cooked everything then finish it off on a smoker. There's a smoke line on one of the meat instead of the smoke ring you would if you properly cook it. Additionally, the meat is overcooked and falls apart, similarly how a pressure cooker leaves it.I also believe they may be allergic to seasoning because Ive never paid for more bland food and I lived in England for 4 years. The four items I got were: brisket, 3 ribs, pulled pork and the garlic mashed potatoes. The brisket was dry, flavorless. The ribs were too fatty but notably flavorless. The pulled pork was soggy due to swimming in sauce and the mashed potatoes were runny because they added too much water.Just unfortunate but if this can save people time and money, hopefully it'll help. I'd recommend just going South for BBQ
If you want great BBQ in the area this is where to go! They start you off with a basket of warm bread which includes a white, brown and cornbread selection. Honey or plain butter comes along with this. With the dinner you have many side dish options. Service is always good!Back again tonight and another amazing meal! Best ribs in the area and we eat out often! Somehow they always have the best servers!
The service and atmosphere are great! The food is good and reasonably priced, they have some midwest country favorites like fried okra and cornbread. The food itself might only be a 4 star but the service bumps this up way past 5 in my book. I have a brother who is special needs with severe autism so he can’t handle loud music. They put us in the quietest table area and were able to turn the music down in that section for him. Love this place!!!
First had back 40 in Walnut Creek CA and the food was awesome, especially the apple coleslaw. It was amazing. In Roseville the 38$ ribs were dry, greasy, old and had very litte meat also absolutely zero seasoning. Coleslaw was also old and bitter, just not very good. I sent back a "smoked" brisket plate because it was more like boiled meat than anything, no smoky flavor. All of the food seemed old, like it had been made the day before. Avoid this place. I felt silly paying for the ribs....
My girlfriend and I were treated with hostility by mature server. We are young 50’s couple. We had experienced him treating us oddly before with little respect to common boundaries. He had both acted grandiose and over assertive His actions and words this time, our last time ever going to Back Forty Texas BBQ Roseville: “There are two ways this can go down!” As he leaned in over the table aggressively responding to my third request for him to take our order. Upon asking for the manager or owner he stated “ I am the owner!” “ he said out loud I was “making a scene”, when all I asked for a service and for someone to take our order. He then proceeded to treat us both with hostility and raised our concern for physical altercation as we left. He was very forceful and never once offered to provide service. Our previous experiences with him made me feel uncomfortable as he was quick to cross boundaries and assertions of knowing what we wanted, ignoring our dietary concerns ( gluten free) . He followed us to the front door and slammed the door making us feel as if he was trying to make it look like he was kicking us out. We will never refer another friend and will actively tell other not to go there. Sadly We had referred many friends to
Way too many times lately, we go to a place, we have a great experience, but the place is near empty. Just makes me sad. Me, myself, and I, and my family: our attitude is: COVID is over. Let's get on with life and getting back to normal. Seems to be a very minority opinion though.Came here for dinner last Sat. Great food, very attentive service, just plain great. One negative that turned out to be a positive: I kinda wanted the hot links, but they were out. But to be honest, I was trying to decide between the Sloppy Joes and links before ordering. So no links? No big deal, I'll get the Sloppy Joes. They were different/better than I expected. Pulled pork in BBQ sauce. GREAT. Potato salad and the beans as side dishes. GREAT. My wife and son had some of the beef ribs, so I scammed a few the next day: GREAT. The place wasn't very crowded though, and we were there at maybe 7:30pm on a Sat. So while that's a positive for getting in and out quick, they should have more business. Hint, hint. :-)
Everything I have had there is great except the brisket. Never before at a place that specializes in Texas BBQ have I had brisket so dry and bland. It was as if it had been boiled for eight hours then smoked for one or two. I'll post some photos. You can see a bit of a smoke ring but note the palid grey color and bone dry texture. Come to think of it my cornbread was dry and my chicken was pretty dry and bland too. Decent pork ribs, fantastic beef back ribs and great mac'n cheese. I stand by that.
Smells Delicious in here felt home sick missing my Tx BBQ ? ?? Awesome Service found a Great Tx BBQ Restaurant ❤️?
The food is really good. The place is clean and decorated cute. Was impressed with both the hostess and our waitress today at around 2ish! They were busting their butts- as they were the only ppl on the floor-everyone else was behind the counter cooking or cleaning in the kitchen. These women served, bussed tables, and had 20 plus customers while we were there and still wore smiles on their faces! Didnt hear one person around us complain about anything. These 2 ladies rocked our dining experience!!!???
