Good friendly staff, nice atmosphere, but basically bland food that is far too expensive for the quality.Note that this is the only time I've been there, and I was with others who had been several times before and said it had been good on prior occasions, so it's possible that it was just an off night.
Everything was pretty good. My friend and I had cocktails, soup, salads, and pasta dishes. We also requested garlic bread which wasn’t on the menu but the chef still made it for us. The cocktails, salads and pastas were good but the soup was just ok. It was supposed to be minestrone but it didn’t taste anything like it. More of a thick bean soup. It wasn’t bad & it was served hot but it wasn’t what I was expecting. Service was good.
Such a special place with delicious food & beautiful atmosphere!!! My brother-in-law hosted a retirement luncheon for my sister and it was absolutely fantastic!!!
Rubino’s restaurant is a great Italian fresco dine in gem within Sacramento area & nearby freeway accessibility where locals there takes time to drive and visit. Very fun fare generous on servings of sourdough breads with dipping sauce of marinated herbs balsamic with olive oil. Enjoyed appetizer soft calamari but crunchy crumbs. We ordered grilled salmon & chicken breasts main dish with amazing full cup servings of risotto rice with options between soups & fresh veggies on the sides. Impressive quality from scratch white clam chowder and not salty. A must place to visit & return visit with satisfying ambience, quality foods and receptive service. ???
We have checked out a lot of ‘Italian’ places in the area and are trying to find the best one. We had high hopes for Rubinos but the food was a bit of a miss. The good:Great ambiance, and the staff is well dressed and the tables look formal. The food came out quickly and our waitress was very fun.The clam chowder was delicious and had a good clam to chowder ratio. The cosmo was well mixed. And the Italian soda was good and had the right flavor. The bread came out fresh and warm and the oil and vinegar tasted light and fresh. The presentation was also lovely,The seafood feta had a good amount of seafood and was very good. The oysters were perfect and the shrimp were cooked just right. The bad:We ordered a dish with risotto and expected risotto for the price. When the dish came out it was a lump of rice pilaf instead. Very disappointed. The veal came out tough which is the opposite of what veal should be. The whole point is that you want tender meat. It’s almost like it wasn’t veal at all.The minestrone was unlike any we have ever had. Minestrone is a vegetable soup, that tends to be lighter but what we were served was thick like pea soup. The sole fish we were served lacked flavor. I get that sole is a white fish and lighter in flavor but the fish was just so bland and disappointing. On the opposite end of the spectrum the salad we ordered went overboard on the vinegar. Just too sour to eat.Lastly the parking is limited and fills up fast.I feel like (as a trained chef) that the biggest problems of our dinner came from the kitchen and somebody who doesn’t really know what they are doing, especially in regards to Italian food. Example, meat should be rare and tender not tough, spice your fish, take the time to actually make the risotto (if you can), and don’t just pour gigantic amounts of vinegarette on the salad.Sadly we had high hopes but we won’t be back as we have discovered better Italian restaurants who know what they are doing. We paid too much money for such sad food, and in the end no matter how good the ambiance, no matter how great the wait staff is, the food is what matters most and this place just really missed the mark.
Decent Italian.Interior is nice and staff is incredible. I came her awhile ago a d wasnt impressed nor was my company but I gave it a 2nd chance to overwhelm me..didnt.First thing first..breaded chicken in Chicken piccata or Chicken Alfredo is not me..at all..piccata does have slight use of panco but this felt more like kids chicken fingersFood is ok but it really gives off a "not trying hard" or "been serving same thing for years" taste. Potatoe Tomatoe tho right..everyones got an opinion.Obviously we've all been somewhere better but I've been here twice and don't really have a reason for a 3rd.Remember on The Sopranos when Tony tells Artie that Vesuvios menu needed a revamp..same here
Really looked forward to trying this place out for my birthday dinner. Wish I had better things to say, but the food was poor as little taste (watered down) and little portion (like a kid's menu) for the price, waiter was clueless on good service is as he was slow, not attentive (became a ghost after taking our order) and not familiar with the menu (ordered a glass of Merlot and he said which one when there was only one on the wine list). Like many other posts have noted, there is soooo much room for improvement here, but apparently the Mgmt doesn't care as I've noticed they only respond to positive reviews. In my Dad's words this place was HORRIBLE!!!!!
Dining was very intimate, a well lit environment with elegant tableware. The seafood fettuccine was amazing. Only flaw was the Harry Connick Jr. Christmas album playing in the background....
Enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner with my family at Rubino’s. I had a lovely linguine and clams (which was absolutely delicious) and every shared appetizer I tasted was awesome. Great wine selection. Highly recommend.
A small yet beautiful environment! The food was delectable and the staff was superb. We chose to go here by the spin of a wheel and were very happy with the choice. We highly recommend this place and we will definitely be going back to try the other amazing sounding food.
