Had a pastrami sandwich, my wife had a French dip sandwich. Both sandwiches had alot of fat on the meat and both sandwiches were very dry and lacked flavor. I have been going to Backstreet for many years and was surprised at the substandard quality. The one saving grace was the live guitar music played by a 82 year old Vietnam veteran. The melodious sounds were very soothing . I will go back again to see if my experience is more like I remember it, really hope so.
Lovely little place with great community feel and ambiance. This was my wife and mines first time trying the place and while not totally displeased, probably won't be back. The prices are pretty high for what you get. Also, my wife and I wanted to share a sandwich for $13 bucks but they cut it in half and charged us each $9.95 for a half sandwich. The coleslaw portion was tasty but small. They then forgot to put our aujus (sp) on our plate and then charged me $2.50 for a small drink when all I wanted was water. Beer price reasonable ($6). Overall felt rushed by staff who seemed confused if you dint keep up with their pace or asked about charges. So in the end, $32 bucks after tip for a turkey and pastrami sandwich on a two slices of sourdough, a small coleslaw portion and a beer.
Backstreet Restaurant is a beautiful place to go have a meal with friends or family. Located in Riverside. This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere everyone is nice and friendly. It's a joy to sit and eat outside while having good conversation and listening to the music playing in the background and the relaxing sound of water falling from the garden fountain⛲. If your in the mood for a good sandwich then Back street is the right place?. You can select a half sandwich or a whole sandwich. Select your bread, meat, side, and drink. Dessert is optional and I do recommend it. They have a vegetable and pasta bar that is self-serve. Today I ordered a half turkey with cheese on Sheepherder Bread a side of potato salad an Arnold Palmer drink and a chocolate tart for dessert. Beer is also an option. You can watch as they make your sandwich and they are generous with the meat. The sandwich was refreshing and the potato salad has a very good flavor. The chocolate tart was a good end to my meal. I also sampled the strawberry tart and it was delicious. Back Street is open Monday to Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. I recommend you arrive early or you'll have to wait in line around noon but it's worth the wait. Enjoy!
Love the sandwiches been coming here for years. My favorite is the pastrami but today I had turkey.
Pretty garden seating with fun garden art and a big beautiful tree! Sandwiches piled high with meat! The potato salad was very good! My friend and I shared the banana cream pie and it was Delicious!! Great place to sit, enjoy lunch and time with a friend!
Unique, locally owned sandwich shop. Salads and sandwiches. Good selection of excellent breads. Generous portions of meat. Patio dining under big trees and umbrellas. My ham sandwich was very good. The kale salad was excellent. The potato salad average. The desserts are beyond wonderful. The banana cream pie is the best you will ever ear.
What can be said about a restaurant open for 3hrs a day, you know it must be good. Never has a single bad experience at this place and easily worth any wait.
I like their potato salad, and my family liked their pastrami. I had the turkey meat and it was dry. Just a note, they do not have GF bread as an option, but do have some salad options.
Food was delicious and big portions. Pie was great.
Great food first time there beans are great and so is the corned beef sandwich I’ll be back for sure
