It was my son’s graduation from UCR, my family, and some friends gather together to celebrate before the graduation ceremony.The food was warm, delicious, tasty, and it was not greasy.We ate all kinds of dishes, the waitress was so sweet, she even was talking Spanish to my mom , dad and in-laws.Overall the place was clean and neat….We had a great time in this restaurant.We’ll be back definitely sometime in the future.
So glad we have a shabu shabu hot pot place here in riverside now. The place was delicious and has a good selection of sizes for what you would like. The menu is all contactless on phone and all the heating is done mostly through induction stovetop so it keeps the temperature of the place considerably cooler than other restaurants. I got the shishito peppers along with the mokojo cut 10 piece for lunch and it was more than enough food for me personally.
I ordered miso soup and my friend ordered spicy miso, but I think what make this so good , it is the ginger sauce , ordered brisket to share. Soup tasted better after all the dipping and dunking.
I had such a great shabu shabu experience at Mokkoji. Our server Joseph was very welcoming, kind, and efficient. He gave us several solid recommendations for foods and drinks that were all so delicious. I got the spicy sukiyaki soup base with the flat iron cut and the meat was so tender. Joseph checked on us often and was such an experienced server. I would 100% recommend to friends and family.
My first time having shabu shabu/ hot pot and this place was amazing. Came right before the rush so got a good seat. Not only was the service good with a packed house by the time we left, the food was amazing. Got their dinner special just to try a bit of everything. Am glad for this place to be my first experience and for it to be so close to me!
The food was good and the service was great. The only reason they did not get 5 starts is I burnt my finger to really bad. All of their dishes were metal and my rice bowl was apparently touching the burner area on the table and got hot ?. I went to move the river out of the way to put my meat in the hot pot and it destroyed my finger. I would suggest changing out the dishes.
This place is Jack pot! All my picky eaters enjoyed this place so much! From individual wireless stove to friendly staffs, to yummy shabu shabu, everything was awesome! We didn't have to line up but it would be much better to make reservation ahead as I kept seeing customers coming in.

I got Original and liked it! You boil your meat and vegetables and can drink the soup after you're done.It also comes with two sauces. When they give you the sauce, they'll ask you if you want hot oil. I thought it was chili oil, but it's actually ghost pepper extract. I got one drop and it was SPICY! I'd only recommend one drop. More drops would just be a spicy torture.Service was also great! Everyone there is so kind.Will ? be coming back. Awesome service and amazing food. Check this place out!!

Went during the evening a couple months ago and waited for over an hour even though we saw people coming and going. Once we told the staff how long we had been waiting, a table was "suddenly" open for us.Tables were melted down/burned? because of a magnetic electric stove they use and my cousin badly burned her finger on a rice bowl that wasn't even close to the heat. It would also randomly turn off so it was hard to keep the soup boiling. Barely had any veggies on the side. The location is cramped so there's hardly any social distancing.The meat was delicious but our experience wasn't the greatest and it's pretty pricey for what you get so I don't plan on coming back. Such a shame since this is the first shabu place I've seen in riverside and I had high hopes.
