The website says it's open, and closes tonight. It isn't. The lights are off, and the door is locked tight. This was a waste of our time, finding this place online, and traveling over here. The hours were just updated six weeks ago. ??? Someone needs to make another update. I called, and no one answered. In speaking with people in the complex, we were told it is only open every now and again. I am going to save you the disappointment. Call ahead, or pick a different restaurant, altogether. We're heading over to Dickey's.
It's a small place but the Ribs we're outstanding I was truly surprised. If you live near or are in the area and want some good Ribs.Charley Rokk's is where it's at.
This was my first time visiting a Charley RoKK's BBQ and the quality of the meats were okay, but the flavor does not even begin to compare to Oklahoma or Texas Barbecue because even though it looked like it had been smoked it was absent of smoke flavor. The baked beans tasted like it came out of Pork & Beans can and the Potatoe salad was A-Okay so I will give a grade of C+ and will not return.
Won’t eat here again !!! I ordered the ribs and hot link and let me tell you the ribs were so bland nothing to give you the wow factor the sauce was flat not at all good the hot link was just a hot link no bun no sauce the potatoe salad was terrible hard potatoes taste like store bought the beans were pork n beans in a can.. I don’t know about you but when I spend $16.99 a plate I expect to get some real homemade TEXAS BBQ !!! No food was out on display so save your money go somewhere else !!!
The food wasn't as tasty as I am used to. I had BBQ pork ribs, hot link, Mac and cheese and baked beans. The employee is very nice and friendly though. I will not be going back.
I was recommended by a co-worker. I wanted homemade greens, Mac n cheese and catfish. The food was a no for me. The mac n cheese was watery, fish was not seasoned at all. The greens were good. I didn't pay much but for 35$, you would expect the food to be delicious.
I was very confused when I walked in to not any food out on display, no advisable hours, and an eerie emptiness to the store to find out a change in ownerships. I used to love this place for years, but the new ownership’s decision to buy the restaurant and keep the same menu is a bad business strategy. It is clear they have a passion for Mexican food, with the emphasis and new advertisements on the storefront. I think they should pursue that and I think their business would be much better for them. Their adoption of the old menu, but without any of the recipes, provides a mediocre version of the food people loved before. I had Mac and cheese that tasted frozen, the coke slaw was just different, and the hot links weren’t hot. The tri tip was the best part, but it did not compare to the meal I’ve had before. It’s understandable barbecue may not be their forefront, but the lack of honesty is going to hurt their customer base. I would like to go back and try their Mexican food, as I’m sure it would be fantastic and probably a cuisine the new management would be familiar with. As a barbecue place, I have to give it one star.
Wow! I have never been more disappointed with food like i was today . Rib tips were nothing but bone. Tri tip was hard and chewy. Potato salad was hard and the beans tasted like pork and beans from a can . I should have known when i saw no customers to keep it moving ? i read further reviews not the same owner. .
The ppl (a man and a woman) were very friendly. The space is small and clean. It's easy to find. Both meats were very tender but the sauce was just okay. The cornbread was light and fluffy. I was surprised by how good it was. It would be GREAT if it came with a brown sugar butter or something. The mac and cheese was sadly the most disappointing part of the meal. It was gritty and pretty flavorless. But the guy said it's the most popular side. The yams were easily the best part of the meal. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor.I got the 2 meat combo for $15.99 and the portions are good sized. I was really too full to eat the cornbread, but I ate 3/4 of it because it was good.
Honest review... not impressed for 65 dollars and some change. Got 2 sampler plates and a rib plate. The meat was decent. The beans were not cooked all the way, the corn was freezer corn mushy, nasty taste. The coleslaw was semi good, the cornbread was straight dirt. The cornbread was like eating sand, imagine that, old and stale. All in all I hate to give this type of review but for the price I paid for this meal it was not worth it at all. It's a small mom and pop shop but in order to survive they need to get with the game and serve better quality food, better service, better all around experience. It's a no go for me. I will not return.
