I ordered some meaty fries for pick up and they were great. However, when I got home the bag was soaked in grease. When I opened the plate I realized they used the take out plates upside down, which may be the reason all the grease spilled in the bag. I wish they would’ve drowned the fries or meat more so the grease wouldn’t be a problem.
The service was bare minimum and they seemed displeased when I asked them to please fix my order. I will give them credit for fixing it in the end though. Then the food was also nothing to brag about the beef stew had barely any vegetables was very bland. The torta also felt very dry. Overall, we paid $117 for a meal for 4 and we wished we would have spent the money elsewhere.
Los El Grullense restaurants are so different based on location. This one is at El Camino Real & Jackson, near Jefferson. My fave will remain EG#1 on Middlefield/Maple and I won't come to this one again. Besides the 'service with a snarl' (it was busy Sunday evening but still), the WORST thing was the HORRIBLE shredded cheese on my taquitos. I'm a purist, only queso fresco or cotija is acceptable. Terrible, won't be going back.
This place has been a local legend forever. Real authentic taco truck style Mexican food. You will not miss with the carnitas. I'm not sure what it is? but this place has got it down. Not too pricey and your dollar goes a long way. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for this type of nor-cal flavor. Deep roots in Redwood city. Gotta love it.
Delicious ? muy sabroso. Their al pastor is one of the best in Northern Cali.
Great place for a quick bite to eat.
Ordered a 10 dollar burrito, chorizo and egg. I got a neatly wrapped rice and onion burrito with a trace of chorizo and egg.
Low quality food unfortunately. Very dry tortillas and meat, which did not appear to be fresh. Disappointing and will not return again.
The place was packed with latinos so we figured it had to be good. We were wrong. Prices crazy high, $17 per lunch order add $5 more for an over sweetened agua fresca… and the food is just not very good. Chewy meat, weird salsa, it just doesn’t taste casera or even Mexican for that matter. Extra star for polite & prompt service but that is being generous overall.
Love their tacos de tripa ..nice and crispy how I love them
