Taking off a star because selecting your drink info on the iPad is a hassle and slows down the line. Also doesn't seem like a great idea in a pandemic? Also my friend and I ordered the exact same thing, yet hers tasted a lot less sweet, I think they forgot the flavoring.
Trying a pour over coffee at Red Giant ☕
Since the pandemic I feel like their quality has gone down. No longer do you interact with a barista like litterally every other coffee shop. Chat, get to know you. You know customer service. Nope. Instead, order on the tablet and stand outside. OK fine pandemic issues I can get past that. The past few times I've been however the shots seem bitter and the drink orders aren't correct. Drip tastes burned. They used be be a favorite of mine so it's disheartening to see where they've gone. I'd rather walk down the road now to Philz or coffee bar.
A little on the pricier side but great coffee!!The outdoor seating area is also super pretty and relaxing. No indoor seating - you order inside and wait outside for your order to be ready. They'll call your name through a speaker so you won't miss it.
Good latte and almond croissants.
Great coffee! Liked the contactless experience. But pretty pricey for size.
This understated local gem genuinely has the consistently best coffee in the greater bay area. I love Sightglass, Ritual, Four Barrel, Chromatic, and Voyager, but honestly, none of them are on Red Giant's level. Eric does *such* a good job with roasting and qc, that their beans are a cut above everywhere else. Jimmy cares so much about giving people a good experience. I've been here well over 1000 times since they opened in ~2015, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've had a bad drink. If you're looking for good coffee in the bay area, I think this is genuinely #1 on the ranking.
Hard to come by such silky and velvety Caps. Highly recommend.
Red Giant has one of the best lattes in Redwood City, as well as a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable staff. It's an absolute gem of a cafe, and I'm happy it's finding a way to survive despite COVID difficulties. Erik, you're doing a great job holding down the fort!I also highly recommend their coffee beans. They offer a wonderful little variety of freshly roasted beans, which they sell both on-site and online. I use their coffee bean subscription now that I'm WFH full time. It's been really convenient to have beans delivered to my home.I miss your muffins, guys! I hope they come back once the cafe can be operated fully!
I think this place make best coffee in this downtown.
