Ahhhhh, been going here for 10 years. Met Naseem back then, and could not say enough about his customer service, nicest gentleman you could meet and that same energy is retained by the current team running things! Food wise, Chicken Tikka Masala amazingly saucy, their Haleem is always on point if you are into stews/comfort foods, and throw some kebbeh (meat pies) in for a bit of over indulgence, and if you need a Halal spot this is it.Assalamualaikum to all my Muslim Family!
I'd take away 1/2 or 1 star had the price been higher, because:the chicken shawarma was a little dry. I had to load up the wrap with hummus and spicy sauce to get it to be a flavorful.everything else - the pita, hummus, sauces, salad and service - was great!
Disappointing experience.1- lentil soup is tasteless.2- kofta kabob was extremely salty, I had one bite only.3-kibbeh was good.
First timer here and it did not disappoint. Everything was on point. Price, flavor and plating ??
My husband and I love Al Hamra Halal. My only concern is that they should consider plastic trays or paper that can be recycled. There is a LOT of plastic trash per diner so I will hold off on returning until they change that.
Absolutely a neighborhood gem. Very friendly and accommodating staff, they offered me a sample of their tikka masala sauce to take home with my initial order so that I could gage if it's too spicy for my taste. That was over 2 years ago. Now the chicken tikka masala is my usual plate that I would get.I have ordered catered trays here, custom plates and desserts and I'm always asking about new plates to try and they've been so patient answering my questions. Today, I was driving back from a long commute and they were open as posted on Google Maps so I was able to pick up dinner right before closing time with no issues.Thank you for making the food so consistently delicious.
I am a continuous supporter of small restaurants before, during and present of the pandemic. As many close friends know, when I try a new restaurant, I don’t just order one or two items. In fact, I try to order as much variety as possible. At Redondo Beach’s Al Hamra Halal Café, I order a total of $61.51 including four types of kebab meats, eight different mezze appetizers, and two desserts. What I received and tasted was pure disappointment for all items!!!For appetizers, the kibbeh dough was extremely thick and mushy with very little meat and pine nuts inside. Also, there was only one kibbeh versus two of everything in the mezze platter! The meat filling in the samosa were a bit dry. The two falafel would turn vegetarians into carnivores – extremely dry and bland. Hummus, fries, and tabouli can use a heavy dose of seasoning. The only decent item was the yogurt cucumber salad. The kebabs – chicken, kofta, lamb and beef as well as the chicken shawarma wrap were extremely overcooked to the level of jerky and also lacked seasoning. The final two items that were good are the desserts that were probably not make in-house but brought in – namoura cake (basbousa) also known as a syrup-soaked semolina cake and the kunafa (knafeh), a sweet rather savory version with clotted cream, a hint of sugared rose water, with crushed pistachio and spun kataifi (shredded phyllo). In all honestly, if the owner and chef has no interest in making good food and representing Middle Eastern culture in a positive fashion, they should excuse themselves from the restaurant business.
Our family's go to for Mediterranean food. Lamb shank stew, mom loves the pork chops. I like the hummus. Scratch made, family owned.
The best Biryani you can find in the surroundings. The place is small to have it in the restaurant so ask for a take away and you will be delighted by their service but this is not a suggestive place for vegetarians because very less vegetarian items.
The babaganosh & the humus are the best I ever had. It’s freshness & juiciness, smoothness melts in your mouth. Super friendly, welcoming service. You MUST try this place.
