I’m in town visiting my godparents and found this little gem. It wasn’t too far off to where I was staying. Love that it is so small and quaint. I’m always down for fish & chips. I used to live here when I was a teenager, and fish & chips was my after school staple.I ordered quite a lot of food for myself but I wanted to try everything! I got the fish & prawns combo but added an extra order of clams. I would have to say, they don’t skimp out on the portions and I love that! So you order at the counter and they’ll bring it out to your table. Food came out relatively fast! Probably about 10 minutes at most! It came out piping hot! And love the fact that it was brought out with all the condiments necessary (tartar, cocktail, malt vinegar, ketchup) I do have to say that their tartar was a little bland for me. And not as thick or had a tang to it as I would like.Fish - it was lovely. super hot & fresh. The fish was cut a little thinner than I would like but the batter makes up for it. It was so nice and crispy! Super flaky.Chips - I barely touched it. It was a lot of chips and I believed it could of been fried a little longer. Wasn’t crispy at all. Needed salt.Clams - I could of done without this. Haha it was a lot of food. The clam strips weren’t bad but didn’t taste much of the clams. It was just heavily breaded.Prawns - these were my favorite! So crispy, airy and light! I ate this up so fast! Would definitely order more of these next time!Would definitely come back the next time I’m in town. Or maybe. Even the day I leave town! It was one of the better meals I’ve had.
Being pregnant and craving fish n chips is a bad combination only because of how hard it is to find good fish n chips. We just moved to the area and I'm so glad I found this place. Satisfied my craving AND more. The onion rings were "mmm chefs kiss". And I'm very picky once it comes to onion rings. We ordered the tugboat for 3 people , I was thinking the fish was going to be the size of chicken strips from McDonald's but boy was I wrong. The size of the fish is HUGE. 3 adults stuffed and doesn't even look like we made a dent in the fish. The tugboat could easily feed 5-6 adults . The fish tastes fresh , it's fall apart tender and not fishy at all. The size of the fish is easily as big as my forearm
Way better than I thought it would be! First time here last night and will definitely be back. Came right before it closed at 8 and was greeted by a friendly man, not sure if he’s the owner… We ordered the Tugboat which is 9 pieces of fish plus chips and 1 coleslaw.He kindly gave us 2 extra coleslaws and and extra piece of fish which was very generous! The fish pieces are huge! I’ve been to London several times and this fish and chips is the closest I’ve found to the real thing here in the USA. Cole slaw was also really great and fresh.We only had to wait about 10 min for the food to be prepared (we were the only ones there). I could here him frying it which explains why the food tasted so fresh. The fries and fish were not salty and did not have an old greasy taste like you may expect. The batter on the fish is crunchy and flavorful. The fish itself is not dry and tasted super fresh. I was surprised!The fries were good as well! Not too salty and not bland. Overall, the service and food here was 10/10. Portions are huge and shareable for sure. For 3 of us, we had leftovers. Definitely try this place out if you haven’t already.
Just what fish and chips should be. Crispy, flavorful good food.Family owned, good customer service. Very accommodating nice people.Building inside and out, not much to look at although it looks like they are trying to make some improvements... Painting bathroom, etc.Always clean
We ended up getting very stomach sick. One toilet and two grown adults (makes for a long night). I would consider waiting for fresh fish from a quick trip to the coast. Inland fish and chips is not recommended .
My son and I love this place!! We share the 2 fish dinner and fries. Its just a little over $10.The fish filets are amazing, fresh and crispy. Great service. Highly recommend!
First time there. I was worried that the fish wouldn't stay crispy on the drive home, but it stayed extremely crispy, and the fish was great.My fries were unsalted, maybe that was a mistake, and I felt that the fish was very "healthily seasoned", and I can't help but feel that the fish would be even more amazing if it was more heavily salted.The tartar sauce was great, and the taste of raw onions in the sauce gave it a nice kick. Gonna go back again some time soon.
Very crispy fish and chips. I forgot to add salt though, which would have made it even better!
I have been coming here for years it hasn't changed a bit. The french fries are super good and anything else they fry is excellent
Tug Boat fish & chips I the very best fish n chips you can getbin Sacramento. I have been going there for the better part of 25 years and not one time have they messed up order or not lived up to my expectations for fish n chips. I love that it's family owned and I will continue to eat there for as long as I am able to go there.
