pretty good lunch specials and great portions
Kai Sushi is the best sushi place around! Sam is the head chef and is absolutely incredible. He always makes something special for us! The oysters are incredible. The noodle soup is off the chain! We had the Rainbow roll, Philadelphia roll, and Charger roll. We also had the chicken tempura plate and a really special seaweed cucumber type salad. Also buy two beers get sake for one cent
We are Oyster lover , this place is amazing and friendly stuff, food great and responsible prices.
I just recently relocated to Poway and I was happy to find sushi restaurant five minute away. Unfortunately I have to keep looking for one. The food was ok not the best. Service was not good the waiter didn't even ask if we wanted anything else, he brought the check. I felt like he wanted us to leave. I won't recommend this place.
Top notch .. simply the BEST sushi I have had in years. Prices are competitive, service over the top, and the food was AMAZING. I am so glad this place survived the pandemic. Better than ever now.
The 5 star reviews are on point. The food is fresh and delicious. The customer experience had us surprised! The attention to detail and to our experience was wonderful and refreshing! We will definitely be coming back. Chef was even suggesting ideas for us to try. So great!
Awesome sushi right in the community of poway. Most of the rolls have great flavors and great textures. We ordered a number of different roles and they ended up bringing it to us on a huge sushi boat which was very cool.
Great food and service!!! Our server Heidi was excellent and made sure myself and my children where happy with our food. Thank you
I've been wanting to come here for a long time and there are such good reviews... but, my husband and I weren't impressed with the lunch we were served. We started with an order of spring rolls (3 in an order) that were bland and greasy. I ordered seafood udon and all the seafood in the soup was overcooked and rubbery, and the shrimp weren't even deveined. The stock was made of either pork or beef, which isn't appropriate for a Japanese seafood soup. It also tasted like it had sugar in it. My husband got a miso ramen soup that was pretty boring, and the roll he got as a side was 99% krab and cream cheese and was squishy. He didn't eat it. We did get the salmon roll that was very fresh and good portion, but as long as the fish is good, it's hard to mess up a simple fish/rice roll.Overall, I'd hoped for more traditional Japanese food, but it was another fusion restaurant with a menu full of expensive, complicated rolls that rely heavily on spicy sauce and krab. Lunch was $50+tip for our 2 soups, 3 spring rolls, and 2 salmon rolls (we didn't order drinks). Don't think we will be going back.
Ask for the Chef's Choice Sushimi, they will do larger orders than on the menu if you have a large party! We love Kai Sushi so much its the number 1 pick for birthday dinners.
