Awesome place. The hard shell tacos are the thing here. I personally like the one with the fajita chicken inside.
Hadn't been in years due to moving out of State. Had to go to our old favorite..it did not disappoint. Still the Best!
I am so sorry to be saying this but this was possibly the worst and most unappetizing Mexican food we have eaten in the entire country and for SoCal...i.dont even want to say anything.Flavor less burritos. Meat not too fresh and tough, watery sauce and so bad that despite adding Trader Joes sauce and Jalepenos it was inedible. It really hurt to have spent 32$ for 2 burritos. How do they even have 4 1/2 stars ? I apologize but it was too disappointing to not mention anything.
Had the albóndigas: too greasy and too much oregano.Asked for a chile relleno. It was submerged in some broth and it was nowhere to fine. Only the cheese ? n sight. Not buying from here anymore. And this was my first time.
This was one of my favorite restaurants for the last 15 plus years. Great customer service and food quality with great portions. Over the last 2 months we, friends and family, have all noticed the portions drop and the prices increase. We understand the price increase 100% but not the portion decrease. The tacos used to be packed with meat and hearty I would say a good 5 to 6oz of meat now you are lucky if it is 1 to 2 oz. I have spoken to multiple servers who state, yes many customers are providing the same feedback, but months later no changes. When we inquired we were told it was 3oz of meat which I showed the server my taco and said I would beg to differ. Since we always order tacos to take home we decided to experiment on the Taco. The entire taco to include cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, shell and meat tomatoes, weighed 3oz and everyone knows the have an amazing big slice of red tomatoe and a huge portion of great mozzarella cheese that are YUMMY. So this shows that the meat was maybe 1 oz. PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PORTIONS BACK, UP THE PRICES AGAIN IF NEEDED, but many customers are leaving and I don't wantno be one of them I LOVE YOUR FOOD. yes I did speak to local employees multiple times prior to posting as I support SMALL BUSINESS.
Have been going to Esther’s for 45 years. Grew up at the one in Downey. Ordered from them a lot during the pandemic. They always told us that their business was doing great during the tough time. Once they reopened, they started charging for chips and drink refills. And the prices have gotten too high over the last few years. This was a family favorite spot, but now none of us want to go there anymore. It really feel like they nickel and dime their customers. I can’t believe Linda is allowing this to happen.
We go here often for our lunch break we always get fast and friendly service. The drinks are on point but the food is amazing!!!

I’ve been going to Esther’s Taco House my whole life. Our grandparents used to take us to the original location in Downey over 40 years ago. Esther would be sitting at the counter and always say hello when we walked in. She would’ve never charged extra for chips, salsa and soda refills. We got better service from Miss Dottie than we do from the servers now and Dottie would yell loudly for all to hear. Esther’s in Placentia used to be a place where we went weekly and for birthdays. It’s been so unpleasant and expensive lately, we just don’t want to go there anymore. Do better. Please!
It's OK Mexican food. Not amazing; not awful. A nice atmosphere - especially at the bar on a Friday night. Charging for chips and salsa is kind of ridiculous and shameful.
