I moved to this area in 1998 and everyone I met told me I had to try the Mecca. Mecca was a bustling thriving place all the time, I guess it pretty much still kind of is. What I want to know is why? It's not good food. It's mediocre. To me it's "Americanized Mexican Food". It's borderline just down right bad. The flavors are bland. The only thing that I can say that is good is the bean dip and chips.

Food is ok. Service is good but the food isn't all that. I would prefer a taqueria or something because their food feels like a knock off versions of real Mexican food. I ate their a couple of times and just can't.
I had no idea that their potato burrito would be so delicious. If you've had your fill of Mexican food, and are wondering what to order, I recommend the potato burrito. You will not regret it!
Authentic Mexican food. Located close to the Pittsburgh Marina, the area has seen better days. However, New Mecca Cafe is clean and welcoming. During good weather, the outside dining area is a pleasant change. They also have a catering office next to the restaurant.Check.it out.
I love the bean and cheese burritos. Typically, that is all I order when I would go.Also the chicken and sour cream burritos are good and the chicken and parmesan cheese tacos are good.I wouldn't recommend the super ground-beef-wet-burrito.Moved out of state, I miss this place.Pricey but I still like the bean and cheese burritos.
Great Mexican food always friendly staff. Sometimes hard to get phone order called in. They get real busy and I've noticed on several occasions when picking up to go orders the employees take the phones off the hook.
First I want to say WE weren't please , Of course I understand they are asking for proof of covid vaccines we have ours but my friend did not once they found that out we had the plague ! Then we ordered take out the order wasn't correct ! So my hubby went back in to have it fixed ,my friend and I are waiting...2 empty tables just not cleaned ! So my friend goes in and says we are going to eat outside could some one come clean the table 10 min goes by we were going to clean it the person came out and said don't touch it ! About the rudest person my hubby said thank you she just stormed off and ignored us the rest of the time ! Then my hubby got sick afterwards! I will not be going back shame on these people ! Your customers are your back bone ! Treat them with respect !
The food is awesome. A large selection. Prices inline with quality. The bean dip is a must with every order. You won't be sorry. It can be busy but that is because it is very popular.
