I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and always been good but the last few months I want it’s not the same sadly to say there menudo is a bowl of salt … now I know us Latinos like salt but damn I drink 3 glasses of water having my meal so yesterday I go there out of menudo I want to give it a 2nd try so I ordered pozole that’s the photos here and again I bowl of salt the dish looked great but all salt now I know some restaurants use a lot of salt to sell more beer but this is too much … sorry to say I will not be going there again … I wish them luck ..
I ordered chicharon but got very small cuts of meat and no Chicharon, not even close to the picture on your menu and the cosido had very small cuts of meat and it tastes like chicken broth, both of them also ordered green pozole the harmonies taste burn and very small portion of chicken with no toppings on it that original pozole, and I was recommended to go there but I think I will never go back sorry.
Love this place. My go to for fine Mexican cuisine. All the staff is great and everything on the menu is wellnworth the tey. I have tried at least 75% of the menu and was not disappointed. Totally recommend this place to everyone. By the way, they are so good that they serve most, if not all, the major professional teams in Los Angeles. Just saying.
Terrible service the wait time is ridiculous and the servers are rude my food waited in the box for 25 minutes and she knew it was my food I had to go ask one of the older ladies and she stated it right here I told her well your young lady didn't inform me as I was leaving she gave me a very ugly look this used to be our families favorite restaurant we will never support this type of service! They do have excellent soup that I will miss .
I always come here for the very delicious menudo! The chips are also good and the salsa is also tasty, the service has always been good and I always enjoy my meals here. The wait was a bit too long but overall you can say that it was worth the wait even though I don’t like to wait very long.
If you're thinking of Mexican food, consider Zapien's. They have the best bean dip and chips I have ever tasted. This alone is a reason to dine here. Chips are obviously made fresh and are seasoned to perfection. They can be enjoyed on their own or with their amazing bean dip and salsa. The food is delicious and servings are quite large. Located in Pico Rivera, it's totally worth the drive.
1st time checking this place out. With covid still being a major issue, and also having family with compromised immune systems, I only order take out or delivery to minimize exposure.I walked in to order and apparently they don't do take-out and you can't take leftovers to-go with you if you don't finish your food. The guy I spoke with was nice, but that's a MASSIVE inconvenience; and kind of strange considering the pandemic we are experiencing.I probably won't be back, but if those things aren't issues for you, give them a shot.
This Mexican restaurant was recommended to me by my Costa Rican cousin so I had high expectations going in . She said I had to try the Nopalitos (cactus salad). I'll be honest I was hesitant . Who eats cactus? The way these guys prepared the dish was amazing . The waitress suggested I try the cafe de olla (coffee with cinnamon) with it . So of course I did . The coffee was so good I drank it black . This is a truly authentic Mexican restaurant . You must go !
RACIST OWNER: The owner should keep his political and bigoted views to himself NOT at his place of business in an effort NOT to offend his customers which effects the dining experience. Yesterday my sister, my aunt and I were having breakfast when the owner started a conversation with ladies that were seated in the table directly behind us. One of the ladies said "you're not open on Monday's huh" to which the owner replied "no we're not open on Monday's, I wouldn't open on a Monday for that BLACK SON OF A BIT*H OBAMA" . We were so offended by his vile comment that we could not enjoy or finish our food, which in my opinion is just mediocre. My sister when visiting from Arizona often takes my aunt to Zapien's Salsa Grill for breakfast, they have eaten there so often that the owner was familiar with them and would at times sit at their table and have a conversation with them, always letting his political views be known which differs from our family but we never let his political views effect our patronage, to each their own. On one of my sister's visits to Zapien's Salsa Grill a few years back during the impeachment of Donald Trump my sister had a cap on with the word "impeach" on it, so his vile comment which was made loud with an emphasis on the word "BLACK" might have been for my sister's benefit. As we got up to leave I let my sister and aunt go before me, as they got closer to the door I turned and walked over to the owner and said "I have NEVER been so offended by a restaurant owner's comment as I was today by your racist comment" . He appeared to have been shocked by my comment and as I turned to leave he raised his voice at me saying "WHAT DID YOU SAY? SAY IT AGAIN, COME BACK HERE, COME BACK HERE.". Never will we go back there.
First time here.. I had the chicharron in salsa Verde dinner plate for breakfast(they also have the breakfast version w/eggs). with refried beans and rice n corn tortillas .. it was freakin' delicious.. service was very friendly from every employee.. oh almost forgot to mention they bring u chips and salsa to the table.. and those chips are thin, crispy and very well seasoned . Table salsa was perfect chunky n mild spicy .
