Friendly service, good tasting food served in large portions. We had the french toast, crab cake benedict, and biscuits and gravy. Crab cakes were homemade, full of flavor and I highly recommend them. Biscuits were large and fluffy, gravy was good but I like it when there are more sausage bits in it. Go with the half order if you want to try it. Even the half order takes up the entire plate it's on! The full order is enough to feed 2-3 people. French toast was great with and without the blueberry spread. Coffee was good. Pass on the Bloody Mary.
Wow! What a great find for breakfast this morning! Delicious food, fresh juice, hot coffee, and fast, friendly service. The pancakes were light and fluffy, eggs cooked perfectly and one of the best (and biggest!) biscuits I’ve ever enjoyed! We can highly recommend this fun diner!
The Chinese restaurant we planned on was closed so we looked around and found this joint, and Boy-O-Boy are we glad about it!Meat sliced from a whole smoked Virginia ham, cheese from west Marin and fresh sourdough from the local bakery put together and melting into the best sammie on the planet.
My brother from another mother introduced me to Sax’s after he was introduced to Sax’s by his brother who was introduced to Sax’s by his boss and now I know why. Sax’s is a down home family style diner with a great selection of breakfast food. My brother had the chicken fried steak with fried eggs, hash browns and sour dough toast. I chose the Eggs Benedict with hash browns. Everything was delicious and more than I could eat in one sitting. I would only ask one favor and that would be to offer a premium coffee option for those who like a flavorful coffee. I will happily pay extra for it!
A nice hole-in-the-wall find. A little bit away from downtown, but close enough to be an easy jaunt. The archetypical diner atmosphere; stick to your bones meals and indulgent sweets.
Amazing breakfast! The shrimp and grits as well as the crab cakes and grits were delicious with generous portions. Each came with eggs and a huge biscuit. Indoor and outdoor setting; outdoor seating had propane heaters for cooler days. Good-sized shrimp were lightly battered and fried. 2 crab cakes that had little else in them, just moist crab.Tasty bacon gravy served on the perfectly cooked grits. So much food we took half of it to go. The biscuit was tender and filled a small to go box by itself. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Northern California.
That is an amazing, welcoming and cozy place. I’ve enjoyed my French toast and mimosa and everything was just exquisite. Will be back many times!
Best authentic chicken fried steak around. I drive from Fairfax once a month, just to have it. No one else even comes close. Watching my daughter's face when I come home with that cinnamon roll..also well worth the drive. Well done, see ya Saturday.
That was one OMG experience! Everything- food, people who work there, ambience of coziness were just so sweet, so welcoming, so charming. Every single dish we’ve got was so heartwarming. Will go back many times!Important - you need to have proof of vacation which we were happy to show. Awesome taking care of your guests!
This place was very good. Like, one of those places where I feel like I’ve been giving out 5 stars too easily to other places. We got a meal off the kids menu for our daughter which was the same portion sizes and variety you might expect for an adult plate at other diners for $6. I got the cinnamon roll which was soft and gooey and perfect, and my husband enjoyed his freshly fried chicken and waffles. Outdoor dining on a Sunday morning was only a couple minute wait.
