We had dinner tonight and the hostess was delightful and our server sandy was excellent. This was Memorial Day weekend so the town was slammed and yet the staff treated us attentively and with warmth. The meal exceeded expectations from the carrot soup to dessert of olive cake! My main course of salmon was perhaps the best salmon I have ever had. The dish was cooked moist and soft yet the skin had that crispy almost bacon like crunch that only salmon can deliver. The chef knocked it out of the park. My wife had the flat iron steak which was cooked perfectly. The vegetables on each plate were fresh, creative and elevated the meal to fabulous. So nice when the chef provides a thoughtful and balanced plate which has flavor, beauty and both the quality and taste jump off the plate. Dinner for two was $125.
Chose this restaurant for 2 Milestone events, party of 4. We've frequented this establishment for years & have been pleased. Waited approx 10min before Jennifer/waitress came to our table. She seemed preoccupied when taking our Red wine selection/appetizer order. Returning with wine and white wine glasses, we inquired about our appetizer. We noticed a nearby table had beautiful Red Wine glasses and asked if we could have the same. She replied "We had not spent enough money for our wine and restaurant only had 12-14 glasses". Her response was not only RUDE BUT INSULTING! Our dinners were delicious, although the whole experience was very much tainted by Jennifer.
This is one of the better restaurants in Paso, and has been in business for a while. They have a great "quasi-outdoor" patio with wonderful atmosphere.
First the food was delicious, the wait staff..... meh. The food seemed to come out almost immediately after we ordered it. My husband ordered a salad and it was forgotten. When the waiter came back to clear my plate, my husband mentioned that he never got his salad. The next thing we knew, our entrees showed up. We asked for ground pepper and she put salt & pepper shakers on the table when there were clearly pepper mills in sight. He told her to take the salad off of the bill. After we were done the salad and the check come out. It a lovely place with great ambiance, but terrible service.
What can I say.... it was wonderful. Food was EXTREMELY FRESH and service was friendly. My favorite thing I ate was the yam puree which was apart of the steak dish. Everyone in our party was happy with their dishes. The dessert is from a local bakery called Angela's-olive oil cake yummy. Coffees and tea were also excellent. Would recommend.
Positives: great atmosphere dining in the courtyard, attentive service. Negatives: complete failure on food - the lamb ragu was ungenerous, a small offering of mostly noodles with only the slightest hint of lamb, more like shavings rather than pieces. Poor value at $38. Our pecan dessert was so dry and tasteless we sent it back. Staff confirmed how bad it was by tasting it themselves. They should have provided another dessert free but didn’t. Our bill showed charges for both desserts and a credit only for the flop. Yes, staff were apologetic but at these prices service and quality were a bust. Big disappointment.
Had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed the cheese platter & the beet salad. Terrific food & prompt service with a lovely back garden. Highly recommend!
I guess I'm a little old school - if I get a good meal at a good price with decent service, that's my minimum expectation ..... so, I try to balance price and quality We come to Paso Robles several times a year with friends. We had the pleasure of dining at Thomas Hill Organics during restaurant month - they rotated weekly a fixed price meal special from their chefs. The menus looked great and the price pretty reasonable for three courses - salad, entree, dessert (approx $50). To be honest, the regular menu might or might not have swayed us to come (since there are so many other choices in Paso), but the special dinner definitely made up our minds, The food was visually appealing and delicious with small touches - the lovely carrot garnish on the fish and toothsome sherry sauce on the gnocchi (working from memory here and yes, I should have written this review sooner !) Both the salad and tart were a cut above an ordinary green salad and cake - the ingredients fresh, tasty and harmonious. All things considered, we felt that we had a delicious meal that was above the ordinary at a very fair price. Portions were just right - not too little and not too much. I hope THO continues with a prix fixe option - since we travel with friends, it makes it a lot easier to split the bill as well as providing us something special to look forward to. As for service: the kitchen seemed a little slow, but the server was attentive enough to let us know that we had not been forgotten. That's all we ask - is to not feel like we are being ignored. Staff were properly masked and dressed sharply and that also gave us a feeling of relaxed elegance. The server did not balk at handling separate checks (sometimes the best way to keep good friendships ! by allowing everyone freedom to order what they want). Although this was our first visit, we were made to feel like we were appreciated. I know that the owner reads these reviews (thank you !) so this is my chance to say honestly: please continue with a monthly or weekly special (monthly is fine for us!) at a reasonable price. I think that would make THO our go-to place when in Paso !!
Crumbly buttery beef empanadas, perfect crunch cauliflower salad, butternut squash sauce that glistened and clung to perfectly cooked pasta made the meal one of the best you can have on your trip to Paso. Could beat a meal in Napa hands down.
Fresh ingredients, crunchy salads done to perfection, butternut squash sauce that clings to the perfectly cooked pasta and delectable olive oil cake gave serious competition to my meat dish. The hippie bowl was eaten at a repeat visit the same day. What more of a compliment than to return the very same day for a meal. Make a reservation as soon as you plan your visit to Paso.
