My favorite winery in the Central Coast. A good selection of great wines.
Due to covid we were unable to celebrate my father’s 60th birthday with him last year so we knew that for his 61st we had to do something special. With covid still very much a concern we looked to the virtual world to find a way to celebrate and with my father being such a big J. Lohr fan we knew the virtual tasting was the perfect solution! We ordered the 4 cabs package and wine was delivered within a week and contained nice tasting mats with the wines. We also received an email letting us know that Darrell Marcus would be our sommelier for the tasting. I emailed Darrell giving him the background and also let him know that our family is competitive by nature and if he could, in any way, make the tasting competitive it’d be a hit! Well Darrell delivered and did NOT disappoint. He organized four rounds of trivia while mixing in fascinating information about the vineyard and the wines. He asked for feedback since it was his first trivia tasting and the entire group had nothing but positive things to say. He had us laughing the entire time and even stumped the self proclaimed wine-o’s in the group. He was easy going and upbeat and extremely knowledgeable. He played to the audience and it was a hit!!! He even stayed on a bit longer for us because of all of the questions and excitement. I truly cannot recommend this tasting more highly and request Darrell if you can, you won’t be disappointed except when you look up and realize the time has flown by and it’s nearly over. We are going to be booking another tasting soon because we enjoyed it that much. We are also definitely ordering some cases of the Shotwell and Carol’s vineyard - they were absolutely delicious. Thanks for everything, Darrell. You’re an absolutely legend.
This place is in a very rural area, but it's a place worth stopping by. I got 4 bottles of wine here for a great price. I'm excited to give them a taste test. They currently don't have tastings open to public so be courteous and call ahead.

My friends and I had a great time tasting wines with host Darrell. He was the perfect mix of professional and fun! If you're looking for something fun to do during Covid I highly recommend this! We are looking forward to booking another one and visiting the actual winery in the Fall.
