The service is very slow. The food and the tea quality are below expectations.
I took a friend for her birthday and we both loved it. We got there early and took time to stroll the grounds of the hotel which I recommend. The food was so good and well presented. A suggestion, although they looked very cute the egg and chicken salads could have been on a lighter piece of bread instead of a bun. ( to much bread :-) or maybe just one on a bun not both. The servers were OutSTANDING , friendly and accommadating , we were making another stop and had left overs and they put in a small container of ice in our box. <3
Unfortunately this was a very disappointing overall experience. This is a pricey tea and I would expect some terrific food and service but I didnât get that. The service was extremely slow from beginning to end. The tea was warm at best and definitely not hot. The scones were good and the little mini desserts were quite good but way too many. There were four finger sandwiches that were completely bland and boring. They need to increase the amount of savory items and actually season them and significantly decrease the sweets. Completely not wiorth the price. Also they donât take reservations by phone. You can only do through open table, And there is a five dollar per person nonrefundable charge because they have a lot of no-shows. Why are you punishing me, who never no-shows, because other people do. At least make it refundable if you show up. Never again will I come here
Youâll be able to hire more help if you pay them a decent wage. And charging me a service charge TWICE and then expecting a tip was out rageons. Otherwise, delightful.
The afternoon tea time is really crowded. I made the reservation on OpenTable and charged five dollars per people to reserve the table. I called several days ago to let them give us a window side table. When we arrive on time our table is really tiny and I couldnât at the window side. Even though I asked to change the table as I saw there are several window side table available, they refused as they said other people will come. ?! The service is really bad. There are only three server but nearly 20 tables. We need wait a long time to order our tea. As the table is so small it couldnât put three port on the table. The server told us he will pour the tea for us all the time. But The server is too busy to refill our tea cup. After a really really sweet dessert, we really really need a sip of tea. But we need to wait more than 20mins until we call the server. As we are really thirsty. The server change another pot of tea in about one hour later, The dragon tea? (I forgot the name) after I try the new tea, immediately I found it getting worse. I think the tea is expired but they still serve it to us. I complained and I think the server knows and then they change us another pot. So bad experience! Will not recommend to anyone. Even though the service is too bad, they also automatically charge a service fee for 20%. Donât come to this place please! Itâs not deserve your time and money.
Incredible hotel and delicious afternoon tea. The staff is top notch!!!
Terrible, ridiculous prices, no idea about tea, portions are poor! Sandwich with only one slice of bread: really, is that a sandwich? Do not offer any seconds! Prices to order a second is steep. We were four of us and I donât even believe they gave us a full portion for each person. They were missing âmacronsâ and we had to ask! The servers clearly donât know anything about tea and how it should be served or know what each tea means. Insipid and weak tea, cold and with cold milk! Icing on the cake: no one to greet us at the front. The servers were arguing and wouldnât want to look at us. Finally came and then it took the longest time to for them to serve us. I donât know what The Langham is thinking! I would just close shop and go look at what the Huntington Library does or better still go to London to understand the nuances of English Tea. Ideally, I would expect a complete refund and a sincere apology!!
My 73rd birthday tea party at the Langham Pasadena was epic. Our server, Isabel was extraordinary in remembering which of us was drinking one of the four delicious teas. When my daughter asked about gluten-free, we were warned to expect a slight delay, but her beautiful tray of finger foods arrived along with the usual and DELICIOUS offering for the rest of us. The final detailâa lovely pink carrier box of those items we had yet to consumeâ was perfect. When I returned home, I lifted perfectly arranged boxes of treats from the carrier. A reminder that attention to detail is always noticed.
I usually avoid posting negative reviews, but youâll see why I have to share our experience. Best friend flew in and we planned out traditional tea outing (we like to try new places each time). Reservations at 1pm. We were sat at 1:10pm right after another party who arrived before us. 1:30 - no table touch, no water, nothing. One of us had to find someone in the prep/bar area, and were told someone would come over. 1:40 tea was served, no water refills. 2pm still no food service, no table touch. Other tables around us were being served. Servers avoided eye contact. We had to stand up to flag the same server to ask about food and told it was coming. 2:10 we stood up and asked the server for the bill for the tea because we were leaving. They promised again to bring food out, but too little too late. Thatâs not the white glove service expected at the Langham tea - $20 non-refundable reservation fee and 1.25 hours after our reservation time. Wish I could comment on the food, but we didnât get any.
Iâve always enjoyed visiting the hotel. The staff is amazing!!! I really would like to acknowledge Margarita and Jenny, loved then!!!
