The pastrami was definitely missing flavor and chili cheese fries were just ok.

After 2 weeks of eating clean, it was time to have some fun. I haven't been to The Hat in Pasadena for over 4 years. So I decided that's what I wanted on my Fun Day for junk food. So off I go.50 minutes later, Arrived at The Hat in Pasadena. Ordered signature Pastrami Dip, no pickles and Onion Rings. Was informed that unfortunately, Onion Rings were sold out. So I ordered French Fries. Within 10 minutes, order was ready and I was on my way home.Within the hour, I was home and was ready to indulge. Warmed up food in microwave for 25 seconds and began to eat. There was so much Pastrami, every bite I took, left over Pastrami was falling off into the plate which is a good thing. French Fries were pretty good. Again, Onion Rings were sold out.Afterwards I felt like an overstuffed King (laughing).If you are looking for a place to satisfy your junk food craving, I highly recommend The Hat. Besides Pasadena, there are multiple locations throughout Southern California. Also there is a wide variety of food items to choose from besides the signature Pastrami Dip.You won't be disappointed...?
Amazing, tender pastrami piled on, tucked into a soft roll. Fast service. Tasty “orange bang” soda. Superb.
This place is still THE best! I've been away for years but find that The Hat still offers the best tasting and most generous portion pastrami sandwich and fries, anywhere.... still a great value, too. How did I stay away so long? I'll be back in Pasadena next year and will not miss visiting The Hat then.
Pastrami Dip - 5 ?!Thick Fries w/ Gravy - 5 ?!Unexpected bonus chili - 5 ?!The Hat has been in LA for a very long time and while I don't remember how I found them originally, I feel I go here once or twice a year on average.I used to get the smothered fries but it was so huge I would throw out over half the fries. This time I ordered small fries and a side of gravy and it was also a huge portion. There was a mixup and they gave me chili instead of gravy. When I asked for the gravy (it's a Canadian thing), they gave me the chili as a bonus.I know The Hat has multiple locations but I gravitate to this one. Easy to get to and parking is not a hassle. I'd be curious to go to the OG location once though.

Delicious food! Anytime you have a craving for a pastrami sandwich and fries with random toppings, head over here. They are the place to hit the spot.Bathrooms are always clean and they seems very organized when there are lines waiting to order.
Get the pastrami without dip and mustard and pickles. Small fry feeds the table.
November 2, 2021: placed lunch order online, set a pickup time. Arrived and told them my name and the order was prepared pretty quick rather than sitting there since I arrived about ten minutes later than my initial pickup time. Chilli cheese fries, pastrami sandwich. Yummy!
