It is definitely a small stop shop, where it feels like a hole in the wall. The chicken was crispy but also had the msg like seasoning a hint of sweet and spicy dry rub feel from those ramen packets (not that it’s a bad thing), makes it tasty and unique. You can also choose the spiciness level like your typical local fried chicken sandwich shops. The sandwich is quite small so you might want to order the fries with it to get at least a fill. Overall it’s a decent place and quite tasty but space and seating is definitely going to be quite troublesome to get. There’s a small counter by the window where only like 4-6 people can sit. You’ll be better off to-going your food and either eating at your parking spot or finding an open space, maybe like a park. I didn’t bother with their other items as I wanted to try what they were known for. The brioche bun was fluffy and buttery. It’s definitely better than going to other shops where there’s long waits.
I had my first religious experience today at main chick, taking my first bite out of my spicy dark meat chicken sandwich, I knew I was a believer. This was the best chicken sandwich on planet Earth. To top it off, main chick does not skimp; you get a TON of delicious and crispy crinkle cut fries. We also asked for a side of pickles, and got basically an entire pickle of cut pickles, score! We're definitely coming back for more!
I’d like to start off and say this was definitely worth it, the chicken is juicy and the spice level was just right the spices and flavors all went together well. The portion size was also a plus not too stingy. The only downside is finding parking I feel like that’s a problem anywhere in old town Pasadena though. Not to mention there are only like 3-4 chairs outside with a small table. I ordered to go which is definitely recommend
Small place fits 5 people inside on a bar table which faces the street. Two small tables outside with some chairs.Good customer servicePublic parking garage lot 1 minute away walking distance. Charges $1.00 for the first hour not bad. This place is Expensive for sure. Spicy is hot! mild is the same no difference. Naked is good for those who do not like the spice.Costed $101.00. For 5 people drinks are separate, free refillsthey do give you a lot of food for combos.Got there before 12pm on a Friday and 15 mins later it was insane busy. One way street no parking, for the garage entrance it is before the light to the left.
Fries and sauce are the prefect comfort food!
Among my friends, we currently have a tie between Main Chick Hot Chicken and Howlin Ray's as the best hot chicken sandwich in LA!LOCATION:The Old Pasadena location on Union Street is a little away from the hubbub of Colorado, the storefront is inviting with windowside counter seats inside and a few tables set up on the sidewalk in front. Street parking is available, and the Schoolhouse Garage (33 E Green St) is our favorite if you wanted to walk around a bit; first 90 minutes free.ORDERING:Online ordering is easy! When we've visited in person to order the line moves pretty quickly as well.FOOD:To share between two, we get the COMBO 6, which is two dark meat chicken sandwiches with a generous side of seasoned crinkle cut fries and MC sauce; perfect amount of food for us. If you want additional sides, the CREAMY COLESLAW or MAC AND CHEESE are excellent to cut the spice and boost your carb intake :). The spice levels go from Naked, Mild, Medium, Spicy, and Supreme! If you are in the mood for danger and want Supreme, there is a waiver you scan a QR code to sign. I like spice but not to a crazy degree, so Medium is just right for me (and quite warm in the stomach!).The chicken here is flavored throughout the dark meat and the crust of the chicken isn't too thick or floury like some other places, and I think the amount of chicken is a great ratio without having it be unwieldy in your hands. This is my personal favorite spicy chicken sandwich in the city!Excellent Nashville style hot chicken sandwich and my favorite in the area! Will keep coming again and again when that spicy chicken craving hits!
Wow! The food here is amazing! Staff was friendly and helpful as well! Will definitely want to come back for more!
Insanely good!! Best spicy chicken Iv ever had. Mild is perfect blend of lightly spice. Tasty seasonings from the fries to the chicken. I’m going back tomorrow and I just had it today.
I have eaten here several times and I keep going back. I stick with the medium spice for now. The flavor is amazing! The fries, M.C. sauce and chicken are fantastic, and the customer service is always exceptional. Every team member I’ve met, as well as the chefs you see in the back, have shown so much kindness. I did have an issue with an order I placed one time but they quickly resolved it. I cannot recommend this place enough!
The hot chicken here is divine! The slaw is fresh, the buns are soft, and the heat! Oh the spice is the best I've had in a long time! There's a immediate kick and it's spicy, but it doesn't linger. Which is great because no one wants to eat hot chicken for a meal and feel like they're breathing fire for the rest of the day.The sauce is alright, not the best that I've had, but it complements everything well enough. Fries are good, they share the same spice as the chicken. Price for a side of Mac and cheese is a little steep considering the portion size you're getting. Overall, a fair addition to the hot chicken scene.
