Had a wonderful brunch celebrating a special occasion. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Food was ?.
The food tasted like they served us someone else's food from another day. It was old and terrible. We waited forever as they only had one waiter for the whole outside. And they didn't serve us all at once. It pretty much tanked our Mother's Day. I don’t usually write bad reviews as I know how that can hurt a business but the food they served was horrible. What French restaurant serves a sandwich on several days old bread, raunchy dry fries, ravioli that looks like a soup drenched in wine. It was so bad.
We arrived in the middle of Saturday brunch at 1130a, and were told they were closed. That was fascinating, given that there were a dozen tables of people there getting service. What a waste of time.Edit in response to owner comment:It would have been easy to let us know the reason for the shutdown at the time - but staff just repeated "we're closed" when we asked about it. I'm glad to hear your internet is working again.
Service was good but the food was just ok. We ordered florentine eggs Benedict. Everything from the hollandaise sauce to the muffin was just meh. For the price point I would expect the food to taste better.
The french onion soup was great, lots of cheese! Maybe I would have liked less cheese and more soup, but....Service and staff were very friendly. Also saw/talked with people who had some nice "mimosas", one with grapefruit and one with lichees. They said they love the drinks there, something to come back for and try! The drinks look great, but didn't taste them though ;)
The wait staff was great, very sweet people. I want to come back because of them. The food was also great!
I ate lunch at La Boheme, a French Restaurant on California Ave today for the first time. I enjoyed the place. The outdoor setting is pleasant; they have a white canvas covering 3 sides to protect form the elements, plus white wood tables, brown wood chairs, and space heaters. And the atmosphere on California Avenue is something that I always enjoy.I ordered a lunch special of sole almondine. The sole was a little bit less tender that I expected. But the sauce possessed an amazingly superb flavor that enhanced the taste of the sole but also the potatoes, i.e., I dipped the roasted potatoes into the sauce and what an exquisite taste! The vegetables were mostly broccoli and that did not match my preferences. The décor inside is also pleasant. The space is small and that provides an intimate feeling. The waiter was cordial and I enjoyed his service. There is sufficient free parking one block away with both a street-level lot and a parking garage. I think that the Palo Alto City policy of providing free parking for diners and shoppers is a wise strategy.
Literally everything on the menu is really good and the waitstaff is very welcoming and friendly! Additionally, the ambiance they have created is second to none! Highly recommended
We were discriminated, as we were the only Asian party there!! Horrible service we were ignored! Read on...I had an 11:30am reservation for 4 and we arrived early and were quickly seated. The food was good. HOWEVER, we were very disappointed with the service. We were celebrating a birthday. While I understand many restaurants are shortstaffed, many tables around us were seated AFTER us and their water, bread and order were taken quickly and served quickly as well. These were tables that had anywhere from 2 to 5 people. we felt ignored as every time we tried to get a server to come to our table no one came until we started waving. We waited 45 minutes to get water, and then another 20 minutes for a server to take our order. then we had ask for bread our drinks and an update on our food.Server did apologize that they forgot to put the drink order in. We were the only table not getting any service.our food finally showed up at 1pm.... it’s a shame we had such a bad experience.
Amazing food! Great atmosphere with music. Very pleasant staff. Beef bourguignon is incredible.
